DIY: Fix Front Vent Fins not moving
Hey Everyone,
When I first got the car on of the front vents seemed broken, the up down movement of the fins didn't work, only the middle piece would move (side to side worked). Bought a replacement thinking something inside had broken but when I took a closer look found that there is a plastic connector that syncs the movement of the fins.
Part1.
You will need to remove your radio, guide can be found on the forums.
1. remove shifter cover
2. remove ashtray
3. remove hidden bolt drivers side (LHD)
4. pull out radio
Part2.
1. Unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the vent fixture
2. use trim removal tool to gently pry at the top of the vent
3. once you pop out the vent there are 3 screws you need to remove and pop open 4 tabs at the top and 2 tabs at the bottom to remove the back part of the vent assembly. (i've attached pictures circling the tabs and marking x locations of the screws.)
4. See the picture of the plastic guide that needs to be re-attached
5. put assembly back together making sure that the side to side vents line up with the center ****. (I've attached a picture to highlight this.
6.put it all back together.
Cheers,
D
