DIY HKS Twin Power Ignition Amp. installation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgbL2GsXOXw

Click on the above link for 1 minute short video clip.

Installing HKS Twin Power to RX8 is very easy. Only thing need to be done prior to installation is to get a proper mounting bracket for the unit. I chose to mount nearby the firewell as shown on the video clip. You can check the power source as well as better ground connection. To begin the installation, I recommend you disconnect your battery first.

1. Get yourself a L-shaped bracket from your local hardware store. Use a 1/4" drill bit to make two holes on each bracket surface where you mount the unit and attached point on the firewell which I chose the windshield tank attached point.

2. Remove the engine cover and lift up the air filter box from the engine bay; it gives you more room to work with your harness and plugs.

3. Make sure you follow the instruction from the HKS twin power in regard of the leading and trailing plug connection. PLug from the very front end of your RX8 uses white tie plug, then black tie plug on the second one, follow by white tie plug on the third one, then again black tie plug on the last one. The order on either white or black itself does not matter. In short, the sequence is white, black, white, black tie on the harness.

4. US RX8 is left-handed driving, I will recommend to route the harness from driver to passenger side as shown on the video clip. It is a perfect fittment for my RX8.

5. Plug the harness to the HKS Twin Power unit, then connect the ground wire to nearby common ground terminal.

6. Reconnect your battery.

7. Put air filter box and engine cover back.

8. Start your engine; turn your steering wheel all the way left and then all the way right. It will set your TCS off once you restart your engine again.

Comment:

HKS Twin Power unit does make a difference on the back-fire issue. You will notice that there are less "pop" sound and less residue from your exhaust due to incomplete combustion. I do get a slightly better mileage after the installation. I only drove 100 miles round trip every weekend. Have fun.

I just want to share my experience on this particular installation. If you do not agree, I would care less. I know that there are many mix comments on this HKS Twin Power DLI II Ignition amplifier. Here is what I did to install. This is my feedback after using the unit on my RX8. Just my 2 cents...Have fun.

good job man. HKS Twin Power is tight. I may not do much for our car, but I still want one nonetheless.
