DIY: Reservoir for Richard Sohn Adapter
#29
There is a bulge on the fender side of the space that limits the size of the window washer fluid container. Additionally, I agreed that the larger of the two containers should be used for oil (1.5 vs 0.75 qt) since its task is a lot more critical. If you are interested in the kit, let me know and I'll shoot you the eBay link. The back panel is bright aluminum with the evil m laser cut into it. I hope the site owners contact me soon so I can get registered as a vendor. I'm in the process of building up 30 kits.

Already in production--initial run of 30 kits. As soon as I get registered as a vendor and I have them in hand, I will advertise them here.
If you want to order one in advance, shoot me a note and I'll give you the eBay link. I don't want to run afoul of any of the forum rules.

That's cool, someone is selling my design with a fancy mounting plate! https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...highlight=sohn

Your design was definitely the inspiration Rotaryman13...no doubt about that! Thank you. If you'd like a kit free, please shoot me your name and address via a private message and I will set one aside for you.
I'd like to think we've improved on it a bit too...
In addition to the fancy mounting plate, we've gotten the window washer pump hole pre-drilled to spec. Trying to bore that hole with a 1 1/4" spade bit was not something easily accomplished. I wasted two containers trying. When I did manage to get it done, I still had to increase the size slightly to the correct metric dimension with a dremel tool--not fun!
We've also thrown in all of the metric hardware necessary including a spacer to bring the plate into proper vertical alignment.
If you consider the above, I'd like to think we added significant value and reduced the risk of making costly mistakes. Just buying the metric drill bit alone isn't worth the one time expense to the average DIY'er.

Yeah, I did add a spacer behind mine to make it sit flat. I think it was a 3/4'' long sleeve for one of the bolts.Thank you for the offer, but I am happy with the one I made. The instructions with your kit should include that people need to premix a full tank of of fuel with at least 1/2 oz. per gallon, and put 25 miles or so on it prior to starting the install. This keeps lubrication going while the air is being worked out of the system. I actually ran two tanks of premix just to be sure. Also, allowing the tube to fill with oil before slipping it onto the Sohn adapter will get oil to the pump quicker. The instructions with the adapter only tell you how to install it.

Good advice!...we'll be sure to include that info. I did premix and prime the oil line as well on my initial install as well.
As soon as the mounting plates come in, I'll post some more pics here. We'll also paint and/or plasti-dip a few to show people color options too.

The back plates are being laser cut this week and next. As soon as the machine shop finishes, I will have them posted. Likely sometime next week. We are also scripting out a how-to youtube video and have also been cleared as a vendor. Things are coming together!

Hello JIN13. The price is $80 plus shipping. However we are selling the first 10 for $75 plus shipping as an introductory offer on eBay. Please see the next post for pictures of the laser cut back plate. They came in today and look great! This weekend we'll be assembling the kits and readying them for shipment. We also will be listed on the vendor page soon as we have reached an agreement with the site owners. We are excited to finally be bringing this to market!

Laser cut backplates are in!
We received the backplates today from the machine shop. We'll have pics of the complete kits up soon but here are the first two pics we took today.
The first is fresh out of the cutter before we cleaned it up. It appears white due to the angle. The second pic shows the aluminum color and the detail better. Remember, you can paint or plasti-dip these too to match your engine compartment styling...
As mentioned above, we'll have the kits built up this weekend and have vendor status as well. We'll be ready to ship at that point!

Thanks WaitingforFI. We will have pics of the complete kit and the production install up tomorrow evening.
The only way to purchase a kit at this point is via eBay. The vendor account here simply lets us advertise in accordance with RX8Club.com forum rules. If sales volume justifies it and some of our other ideas come to fruition, we'll set up our own website as well.
Our vendor username is Epitroch...look for our vendor ad this weekend!

Nice design Nuke. We've been busy today as well. Attached is a pic of the final install of the Epitroch LLC kit with the metal finish plate. Additionally, I painted up three more to show folks what they can do once they have the kit. The red one was painted using standard paint for bare metals. The black one was done with plasti-dip and the white one was primed with white. Kits are on sale now on eBay at the following link:

Red!
Thanks ScallopedRotors! I couldn't wait to swap in the back plate I painted gloss red. It really makes the installation visually pop.
I'm looking forward to the spring. It will definitely catch folks eyes at the local Friday evening car show.
Remember, the first 10 kits made are for sale on eBay for $75 each. Each kit comes with the aluminum back plate, both containers, all mounting hardware and the oil line tubing. More details in the vendor forum tomorrow!
