Btw, swoope, just when you get it all worked out, we'll have the new version ready with more bells, whistles and functionality!
Cheers,

One would think that taking out the insulation would be wrong. But remember that this mod was thought up by an Aussie and since gravity works different down there maybe it's some sort of Aussie VooDo from the Outback.
From an engineering point of view I am at a loss. But everyone says it works even up here on this side.

easiest fricken upgrade ever. 15 minutes.....yeah. Just went for a drive and 2nd to 3rd is awsome....4th to 5th is weird cause you don't have to shove the stick over anymore...it's almost like you're going into third again.
wow.
Thanks for the DIY.

Excellent DIY Gomez!!! I could have done the installation in about 20 minutes, except I broke that damn tab! hahaha
I also want to note the very high quality and craftsmanship of this AFE short shifter. Richard Paul, you did an excellant job!
Thanks Fanman for the hook-up!

Yep, you have been slack....
Regards the demon tab, don't sweat too much if you break it. I know a few who have and no-one has reported any rattle problems.

I managed to break the tab on Wildcard's car... and swapped his cover for mine (with a good tab still intact). I've had a rattle or two from it but don't think it will be hard to eliminate.
The trick to not breaking the tab is to follow Mazda's instructions and use a tape covered screwdriver between the console cover and fake aluminium strip to pry the cover up. I didn't do this on this one occasion and suffered the broken tab.
