First, thank you for the time in this write up, it was very helpful.

For anyone looking to do an install, if you are looking for a reservoir check out U.S. Plastics. I used the one quart container, though the 1.5qt would work for me as well, it is a bit taller. And in my install there is more room in that direction. I just got the 1qt with my adapter, and I didn't see it as worth it.

All that aside my mounts are 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum stock available at my big box hardware store. Bent into a Z shape, I am limited on complexity due to my tools. (This can be made with vise grips and a drill.) not super pretty but under $5. Pick your poison, I guess.

I have a question for someone who has done this. Is the hose mentioned in the OP the one circled red in the pictures I attached? I borrowed the photos from Smutterbutter's build thread to illustrate. I've been comparing his photos with Loki's and it looks like the lines never moved around where a coolant hose would be in both Smutterbutter's and Loki's photos.

Also, for clarification, the recommended premix ratio for the first tank was stated as 1:100. By my calculations, this means I should add about 20.5oz to a full tank of gas, having never premixed before, correct?

Yeah that's the same coolant hose. Smutterbutter's omp lines look way better formed than what I saw on my car. Mine were pretty limp.

The OMP lines in those pictures look brand new.

As for a convenient location for mounting a 2-stroke reservoir, check out our mounting plate based kit. Its aluminum and provides a degree of customization as well since you can paint it to match your car or engine bay. You can also get the evil M cutout design or one that is blank that you can add a decal to.

Cheers,

Dan

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it. Now for premixing, the 1:100 ratio you recommended means I would want to add about 20oz of Idemitsu for the first tank, right?

Did the install today. Thanks for the write-up and pics Loki! It made things a lot easier since I had things to look at for reference.

I used Epitroch's support kit from eBay. Install is fairly straightforward, and this DIY is very detailed. Attachment 1 shows how things should look once the adapter is installed. Attachment 2 shows Epitroch's support kit which includes a new, smaller washer fluid bottle and a 1.5qt reservoir bottle that I filled with Idemitsu

Try as best you can to prime the adapter and the hose and to purge air from both! The less air there is the more likely you are to get oil in the engine!
