6 Port ECM on 4 port engine NEED HELP

I just bought a stage 3 turbo rx8, fully built and was told it only needed a tune. It has the Cobb Accessport and the shop i took it to has been talking to the mazdamaniac for a couple months now trying to figure out why the tune wouldnt dial in. It still runs lean and shuts off when the rpms wind down after its been ran for a few minutes. So after trying time and time again they finally found that it has the ECM from a 6 port engine and my car only has a 4 port for some reason? its the 6spd gran touring.. so i was told either find a new ecm and harness or get a new engine. id prefer to just get the ecm because it would be cheaper and easier. i dont have the number to get ahold of the guy i bought it from anymore either so i dont know how i havent been able to get ahold of him to ask if the engine was swapped at some point and he just failed to tell me? anyone have any idea what i could do or where to find the right ECM? Thanks!!

Your post makes no sense at all. Your car is a 6 speed GT with a four port engine? And stage 3 what? What does that mean?

if you get another ECM, there is something crazy you need to do with the key immobilizer

also a problem

post a picture of your engine looking at it from the top of the passenger wheel ... include the manifold in the view

sounds like your tuner/mechanic doesn't know what he's doing. Take it somewhere else....

What year RX8 do you have? Is it a 6 speed manual or automatic? There should be a part # on the ECU. Could you get that for us?

Well the mechanic thinks that the engine was swapped to a 4 port from the original 6 port, not sure why but there is 3 plugs just hanging there with no where for them to go (that i can see) and they took it all apart to check the injectors they found that. And im lost when trying to do anything with it because ive never even touched a rotary motor so i really dont even know where to start with it personally. The main problem with the car is that my air/fuel ratio is running very lean is what ive been told.

That's a low power four port. Is your car a six speed manual? If so, you got chumped. I'm not even sure how you could get that working but i guess the tranny and clutch may work on a four port auto

it wouldn't be a bad setup in the right, capable, hands...
Turbo Rotarys have always been 4 port. no AVP to tune around.

i don't see why the 4 port couldn't be run on the 6 port ecu(i run an 91 engine on an 85... in rx7-land), but when it's comes to the tuning, it's going to take someone skilled in COBB software.
you could turn off the CELs for no AVP or use it for a different funtion...
you would have to run 6 injectors, if it doesn't already, simple to add 2 more to a 4 injector engine... in the right hands..

So i could just add 2 more injectors and (hopefully) solve the problem, you think? as far as someone skilled in COBB software the one whose been tuning it has been the mazdamaniac for everything but because of where hes at and where im at its been all through goodglechat.. from what i understand hes supposed to be pretty knowledgable about them? i just dont know any other schops nearby that does work on built cars the shop that had it was the only one with a dyno in my town.. dont think theyve worked with alot of rotarys though not many around here

Are you by chance calling your car a manual due to the paddle shifters on your steering wheel?

Well you sure got treated like one when you bought that car.

So, this car has a 6 speed manual transmission, a four port engine, a 6 port ECU, Mazsport turbo kit, and is tuned with a Cobb AP? Geesh, I wonder if MM even knew all this when the shop was requesting his help.

I could list all the mods done to the car if that would help? it has the Greddy T618z turbo not mazdasport.. yea he did after trying a couple different tunes i think hes the one that probably pointed it out to them. Im in Ohio Canton Akron area. Like i said it appears that the engine was swapped out for the 4 port at some point. Not sure why though? the whole engine build is said to only have about 1200 miles on it the guy who had the car before me put just over 2000 miles on it from when he bought it.

You need to go ahead and sell that turbo kit asap, then try and sell the car.

Okay yeah, looking at the pics that in definitely a Greddy inlet pipe but why did you call it a stage 3 then? I would listen to MM if you are in contact with him. Why they put in a four port, I have no clue. Maybe run an ECU from a JDM 4 port 5 speed manual? It's probably better to just get rid of the car and move on.
