Anyone? Thanks...
=)
I can only tell you from what I've heard/read about this setup, but have no first hand experience...so I'm definitely not the best person to speak for it.
That written, my understanding is that Cobb took a 3 bar MAP sensor, and wrote a whole new set of code to allow the MAP sensor to integrate into the OEM Subaru PCM which is completely MAF based.
If someone from Cobb sees this, would be great for them to chime in and correct me if I'm wrong...but to me, this would be the solution for turbo applications...

But I think he is doing more what Tdiddy is talking about with our RX-8s by matching that with a Emanage Ultimate.
Also, another member commented he as heard of a 3 bar conversion for the Accessport, but has yet to hear much about it...

So, if the dyno chart was published in a magazine, why can't we seem to get it posted here directly from Cobb? Is it my imagination, or did they sort of duck that one?
I'll refrain from my remaining skepticism, for now.

If indeed they did duck the request to post here rather than just the magazine, it raises the question as to why and what they're afraid of. You would think that they would've posted here a long time ago to generate more hype and anticipation, yet it's the opposite.
Are they worried that there's something not on the up-and-up about the magazine posted dyno chart?
I'm not necessarily saying that they're purposefully deceiving anyone, but it is at least bad marketing to duck a request to post a dyno chart, IMO. Obviously, it's not because they're "too busy" because they've posted lengthy responses to other questions after the request for the dyno chart.
Bottom line: I want to see some real numbers damn it!
I also want a brief setup explaination:
- Chassis dyno?
- Engine dyno?
- What brand dyno?
- What other mods on the BEFORE and AFTER dyno runs?
- Was the BEFORE and AFTER on the same car?
- BEFORE and AFTER basic atmospheric conditions (really hot day on one run vs really cold on the other run?)

They are really busy...so most of the time in order to post a dyno you gotta go and get the pic or data...usually I'm guessing they are answering not just us...but everyone else who is demanding their attention too...so when they get around to answering questions...its probably not been convenient to upload the pic and explain it.
Pretty sure they will eventually get to it...just hasn't been on the top of the list of priorities for understandable reasons...

I've seen companies post BEFORE and AFTER runs from two different cars, different temperatures, etc. and it makes the gains look much better than they really are. Without explicitly stating the specifics, you would ASSUME it was the same car back to back before and after, but that may not be the case.

I have a simple explanation for the dyno chart conspiracy...
We don't have the AccessPORT for sale for the RX-8 yet.
Building anticipation is just great, but we missed our originally intended time frame for releasing the AccessPORT for the RX-8. Posting more hype on a forum without a firm delivery date is just asking for the wrath of the forum devotes. So, instead we've been doing our best to stop in and answer some basic questions from time to time but until we have the firm release date set, we're going to try and refrain from creating any more anxiety for you or us.
We are extremely busy at the moment, working hard to actually get this thing out to market rather than spinning our wheels building up hype. We know the market exists, so we need to put our heads down and get it done.
Cheers,
Trey @ COBB
P.S. Magazine ads usually have 3 month lead times, the 0-60 ad ran 2 weeks after we submitted it... notice how you haven't seen it yet elsewhere.

Thanks for the update Trey.
As a past Subaru Forester XT owner, I remember the anxiety of waiting for the Vf39 map. It was a big controversy as to whether it would ever be released, but Cobb came through in the end.
I think periodic updates from you (Cobb) keeps most of us Rx8 folks from losing hope, and I also understand your desire to avoid making empty promises and then falling short. I hope you guys can get this one done as its clear a lot of folks are interested.

I'm curious Trey as I have AP1 for my 92x and since the device really is a "transport" to load files onto the ECU via the OBD-II port, can it not be used to transfer these rx-8 specific files to the rx-8 (presuming I've to un-marry the AP unit off the 92x).
I've a feeling that it won't because that would mean no reason to buy another AP unit from Cobb. Just wondering....

We plan on posting more dyno graphs and a lot of information about exactly the maps that'll be available with the AccessPORT for launch, details, etc after the first of the year. This is more in the time frame we'll start our public beta testing and then release.
As mentioned elsewhere, we will initially release for stock and non-FI cars. Then we'll immediately start work on getting the tuning software into the hands of some companies making FI kits, to help them with tuning the RX-8 ECU and addressing any specific needs or concerns they may have. I'd do that today and tell everyone who exactly we'd be working with but again, until we're ready to start testing it's all for naught. All that will happen, from experience, is we'll get the daily (hourly) email or phone call asking "Is it ready now? Oh ok... Umm, I'll call you again tomorrow then". That really slows down development.
We're still on schedule for what we announced, January.
