I'm adding a bunch of engine related mods and need to get something to log base tune pretty quick so...need to order something. Thanks in adv sorry if these are repeat questions.
With the current Accessport release for the RX-8, can I do things like change the tire diameter constant in the ecu? Is the Street Tuner sw included as part of the package ...I don't think so, but have to ask. Or is it that I can only just load and switch between predone maps.. sort of like the RB Flash but I load my own predone tune (from someone else - and do any tunes come w/the unit)?
Also can I log, display, and focus in on ECU paramter data on my PC for study similar to efidude's Prologger sw... and not just display in real time on the Accessport screen?
Lastly, I likely could have answered these questionsif I could find and read the manual before purchase. Is one avail online? One the web site they have other car's manuals, but not the RX-8... or is it not so much car specific.
I'm looking for a complete description of all RX-8 Accessport features and functions, what it can modify in the ecu, etc., not just the marketing blurb. Lastly, is there a dif between buying from Cobb or MM? Support?

Thanks for all that MM
ABS HD (head Unit?) I thought from past threads, that is an ECU parameter, perhaps you could ask to see if it's possible or you just know it isn't? My recollection could be wrong of course. And it's not just about using undersized tires... the stock speedo (and rpm) are overly optimistic as well. I can easily see that from my Traqmate GPS reading which I take as accurate. This would allow calibration of these.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but I though RX-8s were relatively unique as far as their specific tune ( if you wanted the best performance and not hurt the engine) and therefore to get the most (not just the minimum) from your particular car - tuning to your particular car was essential? I would think for example, a completly stock car could likey take a packaged tune best, but after adding intake, exhaust, so new MAF tube and with the differences anyway in MAF's calibration between cars, the result could be lesss than stellar?
Are these assumption wrong?
No, I didn't ask for that feature and Cobb probably wouldn't include it since that info is actually in the ABS HU, not that PCM. My answer - you should use properly sized tires.
You can use Cobb flashes from anyone that produces one. Me, Cobb, someone else, whoever. At some point fairly soon, there will be a retail version of the software that will allow you to create your own flashes, should there not be a satisfactory calibration for you already out there (something that I doubt possible, but you never know).
Are these assumption wrong?

I thought the parameter is in the ECU... i remember seeing it with my CANSCan enhanced data package, but maybe it was in the ABS section... can't remember now

there are maps available for it now. You just have to tell Jeff you received the AP and what kind of setup your car has.
Gains over the int-x are unknown right now. I haven't seen any dyno results. What you are getting is one less computer system in the mix, the ability to modify many of the car's presets, and at about half the price.

Jeff,
have you been able to get a map setup that includes a CAI....K&N V2 with good results? I'd like to purchase a unit from you, but am tentative as I've opened up the exhaust side (hp cat & greddy sp2) and installed a CAI. I understand that the CAI really throws off the Mass Airflow Sensor.

I've worked the calibrations around a few different intakes, but the K&N v2 is one that got special attention. I've had the AP installed on 3 cars with that intake and I have the K&N v1 intake tube in my car (before the turbo, of course).

This is true - it does screw with the MAF.

Do you think the RB air duct will have any negative effect on the stock intake?
