Can you delete the PCM for the power steering if running the adaptronic (or any) standalone ECU? Just wondering if the standalone ECU still let's you use power steering? What functions would be deleted if you install the standalone ECU?
It uses the factory power steering pcm. As long as the PS pcm gets the correct CAN input, which the modular Adaptronic provides, it functions just like OE. The modular Adaptronic has expanded CAN capabilities too for all kinds of advanced accessories; dash display, EGT, added engine functions, etc.
It loses OBD2/emissions compliance and CEL functions because those are only in the factory pcm. So if you require OBD2 emissions inspections for street legality it’s not going to pass because all those emissions test parameters no longer exist. There were some model year variations where a few people had some issues, but I believe most of those were resolved. Everything should still function except for emissions compliance because it is intended for off-road/racing.
