Adjusting Idle Speed AP
I took the MM tuning class, but that was several months ago, so it's a little fuzzy. I can't figure out how to adjust my idle with the AP. I've adjusted all the tables A-E in the idle section to 1500 where it's lower than that. The bridge porting doesn't want to run at any less than like 1200~1300 RPM without choking itself.
I'm running out of time before Deals Gap (2 working days), so I have to get this figured out cause It's hard to tune / adjust things if the car wont even idle. I'm sure it's just a matter of me missing something. Any useful info would be a lot of help.
I'm hoping MM or someone else that has adjusted their idle will chime in.

If you are cranking it cold, it may be fine now because of the higher idle on cold start.
It does take a while for the idle to settle. I had my idle set back to 800 rpm, after running 950 for a while, and I was stalling out a dozen times. But all is fine now after the ecu learns it.

Quick question? Can you directly tune the idle on the unit itself, or do you have to have the tuner program to change the idle then reload the changes back to the Access Ports and re download?
My car is bridged as well and I have idle issues. I want to purchase the AP today.

Thank you Reddozen for your feedback. Once I get the AP, where can I get the software from, is it true Cobb doesn't make the software for our cars anymore? I know MM will change your data logs that you create with his submission calibration process, but it will be nice to have the software to do mild tuning like adjusting idle, etc.

You will not be able to change Jeff's tunes they are locked.
You will be able to change the Stage 1 tune or OEM Stock Style tune available in the Archive section on the cobb website

Red, has Jeff created a tune to work with your bridge ported motor or did you tune it?
And when you got your AP, did you reflash your computer with the tune that is already programmed on the AP? If so, how did that effect or not effect your motor?
Sorry to bombbard you with questions, I am just trying to take in as much info as needed. As my only issue is the idle ,the car runs very strong and pulls hard to the rev limiter, but I am limiting myself from getting on it to much until I get my car tuned.

Jeff hasn't touched my car, and you have to start with the base tune that comes with cobb and tune it from there. You need to marry your car to the AP, and make sure that the first thing you tell Jeff is that you want the idle bumped up to like... 1200~1300 RPM.
I can't tell you the exact idle cause my neutral switch is out so I have to keep it at 1500.

Make sure the AP's internal serial number matches the serial on the back of the AP before ordering the software from Cobb, if it doesn't match, call Cobb and use the the AP's internal number for the Cobb software.

So how exactly do you adjust the idle? I've tried adjusting them with the idle speed tables, and the idle has always acted like stock regardless. All other tuning changes we've made seem to work fine, but we've never been able to raise the idle like we want. I think we are missing something simple, but I have no idea what.

Table A is for vehicle stopped clutch out
Table B is for vehicle stopped clutch in
Table C is for vehicle stopped clutch out A/C on
Table D is for vehicle stopped clutch in A/C on
Table E is for vehicle moving clutch in

Of course I'm assuming you know how to save the map and load it in to the ECU

That is exactly what was done on MDW's car, and the idle remains the same. Everything else that was done - injector sizing, maf scaling, baro adjustment, etc...worked whether idle, cruise or boost...

I did all my own tuning with my turbo kit.
I've never had a problem changing the idle, ever.
Weird ... are you sure you saved and loaded the correct map?

Why did you adjust the baro?
Did you flat line it too remove changes during tuning?

We did MDW's car about ~2.5 years ago, and to get it to run on boost reliably we did the following tables that were permanently changed:
Injector Size
MAF Scale
Open and Closed loop Lambda targets
Timing Tables
Ve Fuel
Fan Control
...probably forgetting something, but that would be the gist of it...
Regarding idle speed, MDW has a 4 port auto - maybe that's the difference between our situation and your own?

Hmm, the 4-port auto only has three tables: A, B, and C. Based on your comments above, I'm guessing they are
- vehicle stopped AC off
- vehicle stopped AC on
- vehicle moving
- vehicle stopped AC off
- vehicle stopped AC on
- vehicle moving

I do see in mine that not every single value was changed equally. Can't remember why because it has been so long since we messed with it. Is every single value in your three tables incremented by the same amount like wcs talks about?

Yup... it's been a couple years since I've tried though... My current map is locked so I can't go back and play with it. I remember a shortcut where you could apply to all values.

The subroutine that sets the target idle speed is very complicated. Most roms have have 9 tables and a bunch of constants such as...
I don't doubt that ATR is missing the right options for some roms.
