Buying a used Accessport
Hey im buying a used accessport next week. I know there are gigantic threads about the Accessport but as i was going through pages and pages i did not find much about buying one USED. Most of the info was for people who purchased the AP themselves.
I have a few questions.
1) The accessport im buying is coming with an all black dongle. Its not the grey and red one. Is that a newer version? I was told it is the version 2.5.
2) Is there anything i have to make sure i tell the owner to do before i pick it up ?? Besides uninstalling it to his car ??
3) Any more info i need to know please let me know. I dont want to buy this and not being able to use it.
Thanks

1. It's the newer. I have one, and I like it (plug into the OBD-II port, AND plug into your laptop at the same time. Very cool... once I figure out how to make use of that :P )
2. Uninstall it from his car, then marry it to yours. You're golden!
3. That's about it.
Are you going to purchase tuning from MM?

1. Yes, that is the newer version.
2. No, just make sure it is uninstalled.
3. If you want to tune yourself I think you need the AccessTuner Software or buy the MMCCS from MazdaManiac.

Thanks !!! Rx8Soldier. Yea later i plan to. But from what i have been reading, he takes decades to send the tune to you. For now, i just want to get more familiar with the device. Im absolutely terrified i do something wrong and mess up my ECU

It's very user friendly. Yeah, he is taking a while, but the outcome will be worth it!

Ya I would make a bigger deal of it but my car is parked for the winter anyway... but it'd be nice to know where the hell my tune is!!! haha maybe I'll just have to insure my damn car and re-log just in case something was wrong with my submission but as far as I know I recieved an email back about 2 days after submitting saying my submission looked good....

He's 20 feet away from me right now. I see him everyday.
But I'm not going to ask him anything about anyone's tune. Please PM Flashwing and he can answer any questions you may have.
If you haven't received a tune from him it's usually because of an email addy change, name change, 11 deadly questions are wrong or the logs you supplied are incorrect.

Some people have PM'd or emailed me directly but honestly I require emails sent to that specific address to be able to accurately track who I have talked to, what I've told you and the time frame of the communications.
I will update the accessport threads with this information.

Now, I sent you an email on 2/2/11 asking a few specific q's. Did you get that email? (shortys17_83@ hotmail . com)

No, please do not PM or email me. The instructions are specific that ALL communications regarding tunes for the MMCCS need to be directed at "ap (at) mazdamanaiac.com".

No worries Erick. For anything else my email and PM box is wide open and I'm free to field a wide array of questions including what my favorite foods are, what I think about before falling asleep and what happens when I get bored.
To the AP address? If so, I get quite a few there so I might have set it aside to address your questions. I'll check when I get home in the morning.

That is 100% totally inaccurate. As someone who knows me I cannot possibly believe you would stoop to such degrading answers for an obviously easy answer.
Haggis is not my favorite food.
