I’ve been reading through the various threads to get a handle on the status of the Zoomer box now that it has been out for a few months and revised a few times. I was wondering if Canzoomer or RX8 Friend could give a monthly status update on the product, including answers to FAQs, issues that have been resolved, shipping times etc. My main questions are:

1. M flash – how far along is the development on the maps for this version?
2. What are the current outstanding issues such as idle, burnt coils, heat etc? Which ones are finally resolved?
3. How is production coming along? What are the typical lead times now?
4. What % of people are having issues still and returning the device? Are there issues with certain build dates? Do later cars seem to have few issues, etc…?

Not trying to add more work for your guys, from what I’ve read you’ve done a great job with both product and customer service, but I think you could sell more devices if people had a good summary of what the outstanding (if any) issues with the device are, what current work is being done and issues that are now basically resolved.

maybe i can help a little .
1-The cz unit 1.1 is optimized for the m flash. It will not disable a car without the m flash it just won't work well .
2- idle issues seem to be now solved. burnt coils are not a cz unit issue. its a mazda issue and it's happening with people with the unit and without the unit. underhood heat is not a result of the cz unit. the discussion is on about how much heat the mazda electronics can take. there have been no heat related failures on the cz unit per rx 8 friend.
3- cant answer but seems better by the various entry's in the forum.
4- this is the tricky one. it seems that the cars vary greatly. but it's quoted that they work fine on approx 90%. the unit is now tuneable to an individua car. (check omni's entries) i have one and mine wasnt a problem once i got the m flash. you can tell a differance with it on. I estimate 20-25 hp gain.

How has the box effected your mileage? :p

 

I have gotten a couple mpg better with CZ 1.1, but that might be optimistic considering what other people get. I get about 24mpg consistently.

 

I drive somewhat harder with the CZ unit than I have without (it's just sooooo much fun! :D) and am consistantly getting 18 MPG in the city. Prior to the CZ, with the "M" flash, I was also getting 18 MPG (15 MPG pre-M flash). So if I backed off a bit, I'm sure I'd have a net gain. Hard to quantify how much though. One of these weeks I'll do my driving-like-granny for a week thing and see how my mileage is.

 

im knew can anyone tell what the m flash and canzoomer r and what they do. and what would i expect if i got one what r the prices and what diffeerence will i feel

 

Please spends some time reading the forums. All these questions, and many more, will be answered this way.

But in brief, the M flash is a PCM/ECU reprogramming by Mazda of the RX-8s ECU to add more power, improve fuel economy, and reduce the chances of flooding. The Canzoomer unit is a "chip mod" ECU add on that reprograms the RX-8s air/fuel ratios and ignition advance to add 20-30 WHP.
