CEL after EMU install - No Tuning just CEL
I installed my EMU today and used the MA-11 harness with no rewireing. I installed the ignition adapter and set the jumpers as should be. After install i set that my car was the 13B-MSP_H and everything went well. i set the throttle so it new min and max. started the car. everything idles fine. Once i start driving it i get a flashing CEL. The CEL apears to be somewhat random but it has not done it at idle. but happens 30 seconds to minute into driving the car. I also noticed that the temp gauge in the car is also reading really low practically sitting on the "C" after the car has been running for a while and taking short trips around town.
Trying to figure out my problem i unwired the EMU and pluged the stock computer back into the Mazda harness. This threw no codes or cells after driving around. I came back home, uninstalled the Emanage program off of my computer. I re-pluged the emanage into the stock computer and harness, hooked up the usb cable to my computer, re installed the software, selected my motor type, and then started the car.. idle was fine, but when starting to drive i got the same flashing CEL. Anyone know what my problem is here or know what to check and or how to check what might be wrong? Any input would be appreciated. thanx

Do you have a code reader? If not you really need to get one. I have Harrison's and Hymee's is said to be good.
Otherwise, my suggestion would be to wait for the reflashers to come out before tuning. If you cant read the codes, open/closed loop, and the AFR you should probably wait and see what the market does over the next month or so...

when hooking up the emanage and having nothing adjusted, why would it throw a code? shouldnt it be running off of the stock computer setting?
Also, the only reason that i installed this so early was just out of boredom and decided to play around with the eight. It is now returned to stock with no problems or cells. i will purchase Hymee's Scangauge on monday and have it shipped.

When you say "stock computer setting" do you mean the OEM tune? If you truely have the Ultimate setup correctly, I would check the wiring. Everything in the settings is dependent on the wiring.
Have you gone above 6000 rpm yet with it installed?

Ok, Yes i ment the OEM settings... i installed then went through the greddy operations manual on setting up the program by selecting the car and setting the differeent tables for it.
My new plan is to wait for the scanalyser i just ordered and see why i threw a CEL. Also, i want to see if anyone on the boards has an the greddy 02 dongle that i can purchase and do all of the rewiring that is stated in your/MM's thread, or maybe just buy the rewired harness off of MM (which his site says he sells). After all of this i will try to reinstall from scratch. Install it with the new wiring and double check all of the settings about my car that i have entered. Hopefully it will start and run without a CEL.
Something else i would like to look into is finding someone who can tune around here. i am pretty sure iowa is a lost cause. Do you know of anyone in the midwest that can tune the 8 on the EMU?

I don't personally know anyone in the Midwest who can tune the Ultimate on a Rotary. Possibly A-Spec in Chicago???
You can always pay a tuner to fly in and tune it for you. That is what I am doing.

really ... when do you plan on this happening, i cant imagine it would take much to tune my N/A app. Maybe i could join your tuning session and split the cost. but there are alot of "if's" involved in that plan

I checked the code i am getting with the eManage installed and its a P0301. But what would cause a misfire when everythign is set to 0 still on the manage?
EDIT- I jsut read in another thread that someone was throwing the same CEL when they were running CZ. When they took the CZ off the car then it ran fine with no CEL. In that thread they were talking like a coil was going bad and on the verge of dieing, the CZ was just pushing it over its limits since it was practcally trashed. Could this be my problem or are they way off in that other thread and if a coil was going bad it would be bad no matter if a piggyback is being used or not and throw a CEL all the time. Any ideas guys?
