AFR change while crusing

I am wonderig if anyone else is having this problem.
The AFR would drop from 14~15 to high 12 while maintaining cruising speed for no apparent reason. This happens randomly while cruising. There's no change in vehicle speed( around 73 MPH) nor throttle position. The road was leveled. From the Log graph, it appears that the car picked up a spike in vehicle load and then the AFR would drop to high 12s and stayed there until the throttle is readjusted.

MM, Do you have anything idea what's causing this?
I am currently on V5_ms3b but this happens with every map i tried so far.

Is it me or is that program hard to read the log??? Is there a way of seeing it against RPMs and not seconds?

Say at 1k rpm you have x AFR, at 1.5k rpm you have so and so....?

was it light throttle? That is likely the open loop cruise map where the OEM setup dumps fuel for cat life. On my car it was too lean and jeff had to add fuel. This was really the only tuning change my car needed from his stock map. On yours it might be a bit too rich. It's hard to make it perfectly accurate if the injectors between our cars aren't all exactly outputting at the rated numbers.

The red line represents the RPM, and you can see that the RPM does not change over the entire log.
So there's no need to plot AFR against RPM in this senario and it wont tell you anything if you do that. Also most dataloggers log everything against time.

I'd say its light throttle about 20% to 30%, just enough to maintain the speed, say 75 MPH in six gear.
The AFR will drop to high 12 randomly and stays there and it will stays there even you increase the throttle slightly without going in boost.
You have to let go the gas and reposition the throttle in order to bring the AFR back to normal.

That is the "CAT protect" (AKA - over-rich open-loop).
Easy to fix.
Send me your calibration (the one you are actually using).

well firstly if your fuel trim is +25 you should be on the _5A map and secondly you have a vacuum leak somewhere...

Oh jeff the maps you sent were turbo but were for 2004. I am a 06 mt turbo rx8. The information should be in your email, where I sent all the answers to the questions. Again, my email is imiss_princessj@yahoo.com and my real name is William. Thanks for the time

After installing the Access Port the first thing I noticed was that the car fired right up with ease! After going through the steps and selecting the 5b fuel trim everything seemed to stay in range. The only thing I notice, which I read through already, is the boost AFR being pinned at 10.0. Will drive around and see if any adjustmests make after a few cycles. The car runs a lot smoother, and the car idles fine. (There are a couple ocassions when the idle rpm stutters a bit, but it has never stalled on me yet) Will update when I drive the car around a few more cycles.

100 miles with the access port and here is my update
stft -5 ~ 6 at idle, but mainly stays in the -2 ~ 2 range. When driven, the stft reads -6 ~ 8 ocassional 10's on both sides
ltft - went from -20 to -16,
Afr's- at low rpm's seem right, boost shows 11.2 on the Access Port, not sure if the AP can read any richer than 11.2..... but my aem wideband shows 10.1 and leans out to 10.5 around 7krpm (9 psi)
CAI - still haven't found a way to put install two screens before the maf, but working on it. Perhaps a new cai is the only choice I have. Not sure how I can just put two screens in the cai tubing. Any ideas or did I miss something? (Thanks ahead of time)
Drive feel - the car is smooth, even with the rich afr in boost. I do hear exhaust popping. Seems like everyone had this, but is there a way to fix this? Doesnt' really bother me, but just making sure it's not a big issue.

Not much of a big change, and the trims still seem to be a bit off. The stft is the same all over the place in idle, and ocassionally stable. The LTFT went from -20 to -16. I am running on turbo 5b btw. Do I need a new map? Thanks ahead of time for any future input.

In that case I guess I have nothing but the cai to worry about. I guess I was misled from a few of the previous posts. Sorry for the trouble, just wanted to update the car's status.
