HEY!!! How about an UPDATE!!
When are the first group buy units going to ship?? We keep getting pushed back. What is the hold up?
I think we deserve to know since the shipment is WAY over due.

Save yourself the time. I dont think Maurice has a lot of spare time to browse the boards too much lately so your best bet is to just call him.

Ok, ok, keep your shirt on . We are improving the unit design and production should resume next week. I expect to finish another small batch then. After that, production should be faster (due to the improvements - fingers crossed). We are building modules for the updated box now in preparation for final assembly. We are waiting for some parts from our suppliers as well.
I know you'll ask, so:
a) Moved switch into box - accessable through hole in other side of unit. Switch now controls more of the circuit.
b) Added circuit flexability to allow us to more safely add "Stage 2" and more easily change the circuit when necessary.
c) Added external plug-in access to the "tach output" (previous units had to be opened to plug it in).
No, I can't give you delivery dates. Sorry! I don't have access to the orders. I just build and test them as fast as I can .
Future -
Maurice keeps coming up with better ways to do this! I guess I can't really disclose them at this time, but there are several different tracks to it. Which one works best or reaches production we don't know at this time. There is a chance we can make the unit adaptive, but no promises yet! He also keeps improving the Stage 1 map.

Maurice, really, im about to the point of saying forget it, just send me whatever it is you have finished. these upgrades are good, but adding another week or two on top of 3 months is just too much. its not worth it it to me, and speaking on behalf of the other GB members, it isn't to them either.
additionally, I was told our units were boxed up and the customs forms were being filled out and I could expect a tracking number within 24 hours. this was 6 days ago, still no number. if you want to stop production to make upgrades, fine, but don't BS me into thinking my order is going out and then make me wait even longer.
i just hope we don't get this runaround on the 2nd group buy.

Does this mean people with 1.1version will have to send their units back for reprogramming or have to buy the upgrade program/cable?
It's starting to look like Microsoft windows..... LOL

Anyone who is tired of waiting, check the "For Sale" section. I have had one from the beginning, and it was just returned (still in the box) from having the latest upgrades, the tach port and the update port installed, and even includes an update cable.
That way, all future updates can be installed yourself...........

And just for the record, the first group buy was ready to be shipped, but the organizer was moving, and told us to hold off. We shipped those units to other customers. The first group buy will come out of the next batch. At least that's what I overheard when I was testing them.
Please calm down, people. This is not a conspirosy to keep you from getting one.
We ran out of parts to build them, and while waiting for more parts implemented improvements. Our suppliers also occationally have delays.
You guys are as impatient as a bunch of car nuts! Wait, you are! Just like me!

I hope that what you overhead was incorrect, for several reasons.
1. i was not moving. i went to a different address for the summer, and I notified Maurice of this long before the day I left.
2. it has been so far past the original estimate given to me by Maurice, that this was a problem that was impossible to account for when organizing this GB.
3. we paid for those units, and you ought to hold them until I am ready to have them shipped to me. not send them out to the next people in line and make us wait even longer. if you had my order ready, and I still hadn't paid then I'd understand, but you've been sitting on $5000+ for 3 months now.
4. i was told "your units are boxed up and ready to go" 7 days after I'd moved, and even longer after I had given Maurice a new shipping address. still nothing....
I'm not blaming you RX-8 Friend, but I hope that Maurice isn't trying to displace this on me.

RX-8 friend has a lot of technical expertise and interpersonal skill. I think the man deserves a promotion or raise or something, especially considering he's been put into the role of front man. The dude gotta feel like Ari Fleischer.
Look at it this way, you guys. We are all here in this present. And this is all because of Canzoomer and his Stage 1. I think you should show more appreciation. Without Canzoomer, you all wouldn't be in this mess.
Ok, don't get upset over the levity. Levity is good. Letting the steam out is also good. Here's how I see it. Either you're going to pull out of the group buy and be pissed. Or you're going to keep waiting and be pissed. Which one is better? Well, at least with the latter, you'll eventually get the piggyback ECU (while being pissed). I've always felt that if you're going to hang onto some negative crap inside, you might as well have some equity to show for it.
Alternatives, you say? One alternative is to, um, wait some more for another company's product. The only other alternative that I can think of is to have Maniac screw your car up even worse with the GReddy! Am I right?

the fact remains that many promises have been made and just as many have been broken. if it takes 4 months it takes 4 months, but at least be up front with the one customer that buys thousands of dollars more than anyone else.

Look, epitrochoid, did not the dealer screw virtually all of us either during negotiation for the car and/or service after purchase?
Yet we all bought the car and continue to get service. LOL.
Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before you receive your units.
Hey, I was watching Troy during the special midnight showing and guess what happened? You got it. Some dude had his foot up by my female friend's head and I had no idea until she blurted it out to him. So I thought "Deja vu, here we go with this **** again" and I looked back at him and said "That's poor judgment." Then I heard something like "What did he say?" So I calmly repeated "I said that's poor judgment." As if that wasn't enough of a distraction, the guy next to me was picking sunflower seeds out of his mouth CONSTANTLy, in extremely consistent 2-second intervals for almost the entire movie. I kept seeing that fricking arm going up and down, up and down, out of the corner of my eye. To add insult, he was throwing the shells hard enough onto the concrete floor such that they were making clicking sounds. I kept thinking it's going to stop, it's going to stop. But it lasted almost the entire movie.
And you think YOU got it tough?

OK, I know I have been silent, and a lot of you are interested to see what is happeneing.
So, first off, I apologize.
Now then: We had a few units ready to go out on the first group buy. Epi told me to hold off a few days as he was moving and did not want them to show up when he was not there.
We set them aside, and ( my screwup) some of them got sent to other people. I should have put them somewhere not accessible, but i did not.
The way it works is we build and test them, then they get packed up and shipped to fill people's orders.
I did not put them somewhere HIDDEN and our people just saw them, packed them, and out they went.
Timing wise this kind of sucked, as we were right at the point where we were out of some parts, and as rx-friend said, we just changed a bunch of design details.
I was also kind of dragging my heels abit as I wanted to get some test time in on M flash, just to be sure.
Up here in Canada we get thE new PCM flashes a bit later than those in the US. I got M on my car last week, and have been spending a lot of time in testing.
I also have been spending a fair bit of time doing data logging with the new CANSCAN that Dan Harrison is building. It gives us a lot more info than we could get before, on areas like absolute ignition advance, calculated engine loading, and so on. It is a great tool. This has allowed us to log a lot more data in areas we could not before.
There is a batch now buiilt, and they go out tomorrow, and we will be caught up on the group stuff shortly.
As a gesture to Epi we are not charging him freight on these.
He has spent a bunch of time, and taken some flack for the delays, and this seems like the fairest way to compensate him.
