if i cant tune, is it worth it?
im yearning for more power and the cz seems the easiest way thus far. however, i only have a palm, no laptop, so i wont be able to tune it. how much can i expect it to add "as-is" and in your opinions is it worth it?

So to answer your question: For the $350-550 price tag, the cz isn't worth getting unless you tune it. You'll be better off getting a lightweight flywheel instead (tho that will cost you around $800 with install fees - on the other hand, a cz unit will end up running you about the same if you buy the canscan)

If you spend the 550.00 and need help matching a map to your car we can help (so you don't have spend the extra money or worry about learning to tune).
The CZ stage1/2 is the single best thing for engine performance you can do for your RX8 under three thousand bucks.

it may work well, it might not. I'd search around on the forums if there is anyone in your area that could help you tune it if it turns out not to work too good.
also, save some money buy buying the thing used from another forum member... you may even be able to snag one thats been tweaked already.

This is why I made http://tyrannical.org/page-15 which should explain just the things you need to know.

thanks for the info...
i really hope there's a way to tune with a pda...it would be much cooler than having a laptop

you can buy a pda version of the canscan, it costs about $40 more, but I recommend against it simply because you will still need a laptop to modify the settings in your cz unit. So if you get the pda version, you end up with a pda and a laptop in your car, instead of just a laptop running emanage and canscan software.

unless you went with another airflow corrector (other than emanage), there's no way to tune from the palm. even then, i've never seen a piggyback or standalone that allows this. it's useful however to keep connected in the car so you can keep an eye on engine vitals.

Don't be afraid to tune it yourself. I never had previous experience tuning before I did my CZ tuning. It's quite fun learning it. You just need a really good test site, otherwise guessing around will make your and your car crazy.

RX3+5, I have the money in hand and am ready to do this, but I live in Las Vegas, and am not familiar to tuning....However, I very much want to learn. Also, I'm concerned about the coil packs...
Do you have any advice for me?

Ok, I have a related question. If you tune your car w/ the cz unit and you screw it up, can you "reset" the map back to factory settings or are you stuck with what you have?
Also, since you are essentially leaning out your mix, I assume MPG should get a little better. No?

is this a hard concept to do? i looked briefly over the "how to tune it" and i know absolutely nothing about engine work and all that... would it be really difficult to tune it? and what are the chances of me messing up my car badly from tuning a map? worse case senario please... thanks in advance.

This doesn't have to be rocket science!
