Interceptor-X Question

I'm not familiar AT ALL with EMS. So, obviously I am having a shop tune my car. He emailed me asking :

Any idea on how to make the Microtech software connect to our laptop on COM 4? COM1 & 2 are not available on our laptop.

Not sure what to tell him.

Page 10 of the MicroTech manual says

Connection
The 9-pin connector on the MT-Series ECU is used to connect to either the standard programming handset or to the serial
communications port on the rear panel of your laptop via the Laptop Adaptor supplied with the LT Software upgrade. The adaptor is
necessary for the connection, and also contains any stored programs you may have saved. Make sure you keep it in a safe place,
as you will not be able to connect to the ECU without it.

If your laptop has a 25-pin communications port, or does not have a communications port, you will need to obtain a 25 – 9
pin serial adapter or a USB – serial adapter; these are available at most computer or electronics stores.

When the ECU has been connected to the laptop correctly and the ECU switched on (ignition on),
establish the connection by pressing F1 (com port #1) or F2 (com port #2), or select the com port from
the Connect System drop down menu.

One morre thing......

When the int-x is connected to the ECU, it wont stay running at idle. When stock ECU alone, it's fine.

Any ideas?

You better Call Chris about that one. Its his tune so he should be able to help you out.

What is the AFR? Did you replace the 290cc injectors with the 380cc ones? It could be too rich...

You will have to go into System/Hardware settings in the Control Panel and change the COM port that the USB adapter uses to COM1 or 2...Then it will work

The IntX needs tuning in the idle map so it idles properly....

Apparently my tuner says that his laptop, and I guess newer laptops will not allow ytou to change the com ports designation. IDK.....if someone out there with some tech knowledge could chime in or PM with a number to call later to talk me through it on my comuter I would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! BC then I could go into the idle map myself until they tune it.

Im guessing the office hours posted on the site are the ones he goes by? Or is there a way to get a hold of him personally?

Yeah you can call mazsport and ask for scott and talk to him personally if he is not busy making the 8 better, but if he is he will call you back when he has time.
