Links to Cobb Tuning Accessport maps and software

Well I mean, to my understanding, pre-made maps can be uploaded and installed to your ECU with Cobb without too much trouble. With mazdaedit I thought you pretty much change ever thing yourself. Unless if you can edit pre-made maps too? Sorry if I sound ignorant.

Haha I suppose you're right. Let me ask you this, do you think your average Joe could learn how to do it their self in mazdaedit by learning or would it take some serious studying? Sorry for the questions but I'm interested, I watch the videos on their website and I had little knowledge what was going on lol.

Does that say somewhere that it's specifically supports the RX8? I only read through it quickly

I'll probably send an email later in the week to find out if it is supported. I really want to buy a second AP just in case mine cooks at some point. The screen already has the Monitor page ghost imaged in the background because I left it on for a month. Never know when it's going to go...

Depending on how they do this, there could be some effect on the secondhand price of the AP if you don't have the original installer. If I have to take a $150USD course in order to use the AP, I'm going to be looking for one with the software installer already, or one that's extremely cheap...
Edit:
Sent a support question to Cobb, asking about support for the RX8 and access to ATR for it.

Alright, so I've confirmed that AccessTuner is available for the RX8 again. You do have to take the course.
Only thing is that the AP won't get an updated firmware to be visible to Windows 10. That sucks, but at least we now have access to the software going forward, albeit after $150.

Honestly, I can't tell you. It was around a year ago when I tried, and I've installed windows 10 on that machine since. Like I said, I have an older laptop I keep in running order to do my tuning. I gave the VM thing a little bit of a try, but didn't get it working. Not sure why, something to do with USB drivers passed between them. That and my new laptop isn't really powerful enough to support a decent VM, so working on it was frustrating. With a working solution I haven't explored moving forward to a different one. Sorry to not be any help.

So I found out this week that around December, 2016 Cobb Tuning was bought out by Autometer. Autometer sold off all the Cobb retail stores because they didn’t want to be in the retail business. They’re pretty much have a distributor-based business model for customers like Summit Racing, Jegs, etc.. Anyway, you can pretty much consider it dead now because there will never be much hope for any sort of support etc. with this change.

Well that's bad news, but hardly unexpected at this point. They've been trying to get this off their plate for a while now. I would personally wish for a small faction of the programmers who work on it to break off and somehow get the source to maintain it, but I doubt it would happen. Looks like it's time to look into Mazdaedit or VersaTuner.
