I can appreciate that this is a good step forward for non-USDM owners who previously had limited options for self-tuning.
However, for people who do have a tuning option this product represents a significant financial investment. Having lost a considerable sum of money previously; $1000 USD for a Hymee ProTuner that has buggy logging capability that was never corrected and also never received a token base tune which without it makes the product completely unusable, how is it unreasonable to want actual proof of what it can do rather than talk?
The quote above is simply the viewpoint from that perspective. It isn't negative nor was it intended to be. Even if you have a personal bias or pre-conceived attitude against me and my intentions, other members in the same boat are asking and wanting to know what it can really offer to justify the cost for their situation. It's an entirely reasonable position. Nobody should be expected to buy a product on faith, nor should they be attacked for saying "show me" when somebody claims a product can do "xyz".
So USDM S1 owners will expect it to offer tuning features i.e. additional defined map access not previously seen, etc., beyond the Cobb AP. I haven't seen anything yet to suggest it can. If somebody is aware of it being shown here or elsewhere a link or note explaining where it can be found would be nice.
S2 owners, USDM or Not, are all in the same boat. They have no tuning option at all. This particular product has been available for the RX8 since at least 2009. However, just like nobody going there for all this time until someone like Brettus showing them it works (kudos for that) the same situation exists for S2 owners. It's not me whining, not me being negative, not me making a personal slander against the product or another member. It's simply me expressing a particular questioning perspective that I and a number of other people have. If it has or is being shown on another forum again a link or note explaining where it can be found would be nice. There must be at least 100 or more S2 owners on this forum who would die for this information.

I just dropped epifan a line verifying availability of the personal edition for a 2004 USDM 4 port.
Assuming it's truely available I'll be picking up a copy. Brettus do I need any kind of reflash adapter for the Tactrix?

Cheaper than a used AP according to the price on epifan's website and I already have an OpenPort 2.0.

I also had an email exchange with Cobb and they confirmed the addition of new tables to ATR. Instructions were to simply request a new download.
I've got my request in and hope to hear back from them shortly. Oh how I'd love to have some control over idle and the speed limiter.

Might have missed it..but is this just for the 4AT AP?

I asked specifically about the 4 port, but the response was a bit more general.

Hi,
One of our engineers actually added some tables to the RX8 ATR just recently on his own time. I would suggest re-downloading the software as these tables will likely be available to you now.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Aaron

Hey there,
Way back in the day I helped work out some of the bugs with the AP on the Mazda RX8 4 port and continue to use it to this day. I've noticed that there are some options missing in ATR that would be very useful to me, namely the ability to modify the speed limiter and exposing the remaining idle tables.
I've long since stopped relying on Jeff for any kind of support and have become self-sufficient. Is there any way possible you could make these tables available to the consumer Race beta version for the 2004 4 port? I know you no longer offer support for our platform but would really appreciate your assistance if it is not too time consuming.
Thanks in advance,
Shell

Epifan is not a tuner and will not be doing any work on this himself.
I currently have all the maps I need but had some issues with Epifan in trying to get it done at his end because when he sent me an update (to fix another issue) it wiped out all the previous 2 days work I had done on definitions. At that point I got pissed off and never got around to re-doing it (life got in the way).
So the answer is - if you want extra definitions you may well have to find the maps yourself .
There must be a S2 owner out there prepared to pony up with a few hundred ,take a small risk ,and buy the personal edition. If some of those guys knew how much we S1 owners had spent on tuning solutions over the years they would stop faffing about and take a punt on this !

thanks for the clarification
I'd be willing to work with an S2 owner on the tuning if they're willing to take the risk on the sioftware. As mentioned by others earlier, I don't have an S2 nor am I interested in playing tuner-for-hire in general so there's no reason for me to go there otherwise. I would be willing to help someone else out if possible though.

Brettus, Correct me if I am wrong here but in MazdaEdit (Pro Version) works similar to how ProTuner works. That is that ALL tables in the ECU are available, you just have to figure out what it is they do and Label them. Its the Map descriptions editor feature listed here epifanSoftware | mazdaEdit | Versions & prices
The maps defined by epifan were pretty poorly labelled and many of them incorrect . That is what I was trying to do with the program - get the definitions sorted so everyone could use it and not have to try work a lot of it out first.
