So I contacted Epifan as well regarding the radiator fan issue. Just got a reply back:
Going to test when i get home and validate before posting this information in the S2 thread as well.
Hello
First, sorry for delay.
I found proper Radiator fan thresholds - "Radiator Fan vs Coolant Temp Sensor Voltage" table. If you want to lower your fan thresholds just increase all values a little. Values are voltages, so you can use ECT Scaling table to find exact ECT.
New defs file is here:

Download it and copy it over old one to C:\Program Files\mazdaEdit Personal\

Fan speed vs coolant temp... this is found in the "Test" section under 2D Maps. There is a graph, but nothing relvant to graph.
Here is what the temp voltages equate to based on my ECT sensor scaling map:
S1 ON : ~97C
S1 OFF: ~94C
S2 ON : ~97C
S2 OFF: ~94C
S3 ON: ~102C
S3 OFF: ~98.7
S4 ON: ~109.6C
S4 OFF: ~106.7C
The expression for calculating the trendline of my coolant to voltage graph is :
y = -0.7544x5 + 10.127x4 - 52.966x3 + 135.17x2 - 191.66x + 172.91
where 'x' is the voltage. (yay math)

got the map , there is another 2d map called ?Rad Fan Switches, I *think* that might have something to do with the "after car shut off fan turns on" setting? dunno yet, no S2 to test until Friday ![Frown](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Another new settings I requested was the "actual" RPM limiter, epifan found 3, 9000/9500/9000, not sure which one is the actual
interesting thing is there is another new 1d map, ?Rad Fan Mul, 0.14 ? O_O

I wouldn't mind seeing the ignition off fan maps for an S1. Mine has always turned off with the key while others fans will run for a good 5 minutes post ignition key removal.
Any S1s try the def file... Not sure if these'll even show up for an S1 and/or not Pro.

Now the new def file has 3 RPM Limter settings, just gotta find out which one.
on the S2 there is a Radiator Fan switches settings, "That" might have something to do with what the fan does when it matches the ECT volt settings for the fans. I assume there is something like that found in S1 as well. will check it out when I'm done with this S2 bs lol

Another thing that is really confusing is all of the "A" and "A?" tables ... There are a bunch.
VE vs VE A
Leading Timing vs Leading Timing A
Trailing Timing vs Trailing Timing A
Oil Injection (Load) vs Oil Injection (Load) A?
Oil Injection (Throttle) vs Oil Injection (Throttle) A
VE vs VE A
Leading Timing vs Leading Timing A
Trailing Timing vs Trailing Timing A
Oil Injection (Load) vs Oil Injection (Load) A?
Oil Injection (Throttle) vs Oil Injection (Throttle) A

I wonder what VersaTuner is like on the S2.

Just had my first ME scare!
Was flashing..then at 99% I suddenly got "Unknown Error". The dash cluster went bananas. And the car went dead silent lol. After I validated that I didn't make a mess in my pants, I shut the ignition all the way off, then back to on and tried to flash again....
...... worked
phew ...

So I have read many posts on here to realized that I had 700 more posts to read. I didn't feel like reading them all. Is it decided MazdaEdit works well? Last I knew it was crap and they didn't want to update it and all sorts of issues. On a stock RX-8 what kind of gains are you looking at if any? besides up idle, and omp?

I dont recall it ever being "crap" except that it was really an infant product when it was first released. I have been really happy with it. Might not be as pretty as VT but it really gets the job done. As far as any gains, I cant justify with any hp numbers yet, but car is scaled properly, and afrs are sitting pretty at the common 'rich best torque' numbers. With the adjusted ignition timing it is super smooth pulling all the way up into redline and feels like it even wants more.
Fan on, adjusted idle, increased omp all provide a nice added protection to the vehicle as well

I Was flashing a S1 and at the first stage, when it was supposed to "Erasing Flash", it suddenly froze and I almost **** in my pants.
luckly after I restart the car and flashed again it worked. jesus
after that, I bought couple of spare ECU, and I ALWAYS carry them with me when I do flashes, JUST in case something ***** up I can get another ECU and use IDS to flash it back to stock first.
