Mazsport Interceptor- X EMS

Thanks! That's good info to know.
So I take it the way the IntX is set up is that it uses the stock IAT sensor data unless you install the aftermarket sensor into the front port? I know in the microtech manual it talks about having to install a sensor, but I'm guessing what Scott did is wire it so that it will use the stock sensor data unless you have the additional sensor plugged in - then the new sensor data overrides the stock RX8 sensor data. Is that correct?

Basically If it like mine the data is a bit off with the Stock sensors......not bad but that's one of the joys of the Microtech....the guy who makes them holds all the keys to the castle

So i have the laptop dongle and all but, when i connect the int x to my laptop, the computer askes to install a hardware. Nothing happens after that. The laptop just wont recognize it. Com 1 & 2 are unavailable? Any suggestions?

You have to change your control panel settings and reassign your USB to COM1, COM2 and try different USB ports on your computer to match it up.
If my memory serves me right...

When you unplug the interceptor, you're a stock car. So the upgrade process is exactly the same as a stock car to AccessPort.

can some1 tell me if this unit will work on my 4port. i am looking to buy a unit from some1, its currently on a 6port. both cars are NA and stock.

Even back in 2011 (the post above yours) it was known that the Interceptor X is terrible for our cars. Seriously, do not buy it.
It doesn't work well on either the 4-port or 6-port, as our ECU is too smart to be fooled by it for long. You would be far better off buying MazdaEdit or an AccessPORT and just directly changing the tune in the factory ECU.

okay so i got the unit, my car starts and drives with the base map, but before i start digging up i would like to know if any1 has a 4port map. i am not sure how to set up the injectors seeing that i have 2 less....

You haven't bothered reading much? Including my response and previous discussin in this very thread from years ago?
You are using something that WILL NEVER WORK PROPERLY, and continuing to try very well might cost you your engine.

Long before access port I purchased a interceptor X and have first hand knowledge of it. Use care in what you are doing as playing with this unit could cause you to loose an engine. I had the best tuners of the time set mine up and within six months the ECU had over ridden it.

I'm using the inter-x... 30k miles and still running like a champ!
Yes, there are better options. I would listen to these guys.
I'm just not going to mess with something that has been working for me.
Fingers crossed

You are also not running a Renesis
No, you didn't put your location in your profile, so now I didn't see where you are from.
It doesn't matter that you have a JDM ECU though. It's like you decided to try to get diesel fuel to work in your RX-8, we are telling you that it won't work, and you tell us that maybe it will because you have a JDM car.
Ok, so you have a JDM RX-8. The Interceptor-X STILL WON'T WORK PROPERLY. The reasons why have nothing to do with regional differences, and everything to do with the fact that our ECU is a modern ECU with lots of checks and balances and it will keep adjusting it's internal maps to fight what the Interceptor-X is doing until it has completely bypassed it.
If you truely don't have an AccessPORT option, try checking with the guys at MazdaEdit. If that doesn't work either, then you simply have no options. Time for an aftermarket ECU.

Why do you guys think that the ECU overwrites the IntX maps...the IntX is basically fuel and ignition standalone...
The problems had more to do with the Microtech granularity and poor interpolation...and poor correction maps for a daily driver
If the car is tuned properly and you live in an area without huge temperature swings...the IntX will work fine
Accessport Race doesn't work for JDM ECU's...so he will need it tuned with someone that has a Pro licence

thanks alot guys, sorry if it seems like im ignorant, i actually took your advice and started looking at mazdedit i know it works in jdm cars however i cant afford to fly someone in to tune my car(due to a lack of pro tuners in my country) especially for such low hp gains, i am actually getting tuned by some1 who is verse in with microtech software and he actually said that the problem with microtech is maintaining idle, but its worste with bigger injectors.....saturday when i get tuned ill post again.
