The Haltech only supports 4 injectors it says. I would need 6 assuming I am going 6 port engine right?

I don't think I would buy an ecu, much less harness, from ebay. I'd prefer to get in touch with the individual on the forum here, or in person first. I don't expect it would be too hard to locate one when I get to it, though even brand new isn't that bad on price.

I realized another challenge point though while on the miata forums, as the transponder keys are coded into the ECU, and it will have to be synced up and addressed without locking it down.

All have 4 injectors if i am correct. The extra 2 ports are opened after 3500 RPM for more air. But I could be wrong.

Just one more clarification: There are a few harnesses involved in running the engine, two of which plug into the PCM (ECU). Those two are the emission harness aka engine harness and the Main front harness (Big and expensive). If all the CAN stuff is being utilized you would then need the dashboard harness which would attach to the Cluster (Which is the main communication hub) and the keyless entry module.

there's a lot you have to do to get a MoTeC to work on a Renesis and keep all the intake valves working, which the lesser models can't do. Daryl Drummond is a distributor and can give you the run down on it if that's the path you want and can afford.

I also have an engine harness, but am keeping as a complete spare. I have another parts harness if you ever need a specific connector etc.

My understanding is that the dealerships can now synch used ECUs with the keys, immobilizer etc.

Wouldn't this work with a 4 port engine?

There are still other issues to address. As I understand it, the RX-8 alternator has to be switched to an FD3 part for one.

I know this is a bit off track, but......

The sweetest Miata I've seen was a conversion to the 2.2 turbo. It took a little cutting & welding (less then 2 hours work) on the firewall and used a different intercooler with some fabricated ducting. I think the donor car was a 2006.

Also had some mild fender flares bigger tires and upgraded brakes, about a $25000 total project. 300+ HP to the wheels on the dyno and daily driven.

Very fast car yet easy to drive around town.

Not really. Got most of my questions answered. This isn't a build thread, just investigating prior to get started with the build.

I am delaying it a bit though, to see if Mazda provides an OEM one with warranty in the form of an upcoming RX-7. If it is the Renesis2 on an MX-5 chassis (reskinned or not), I will be getting that and save myself the trouble of a swap .

It's the weight I want to shed, not so much the look of the chassis. Just the MX-5 makes the most sense for the chassis to use if I went ahead with the swap.

I went for an Adaptronic e1280s for a Renesis conversion into a '94 Miata. It's currently being wired up as part of a turnkey conversion, all the mechanical stuff is complete.

The RX8 ECU wasn't an option since it needs all the ancillaries to be attached to work.

The e1280s can run the 6 injectors and the RX8 intake manifold. I wanted the ability to run adjustable traction control as well using the 4 ABS sensor inputs directly without needing extra input components. A mechanical throttle rather than a drive-by-wire controller is being used. A separate standlaone OMP controller has been supplied/customised by EOMP to support a separate TCW-3 oil tank rather than premixing.

Nice. Thanks for the info.

If you have a build thread somewhere, I'd be really interested in seeing it

I will add a lot more pics when I get the car back.

If you want to PM me your email, I can send you a load of notes about the issues involved.
