Possible RX8 ECU Tuning on the horizon?

Hello guys. I'm very new to the RX8 world but not the import world at all. Previous to my 8 I had the other 8..an EVO8 with about 410 whp. The EVO had a tunable ECU that was very receptive to tuning. Long story short, I'm in discussions with a company who does LOTS of engine tuning and one of the items my tuner wants to work on is an RX8. I have volunteered my car as the R&D car for some test and tune in Feb. If they can do anything with the RX8 ECU like they did with the EVO ECU we will have another great product on the market. I'm not looking to get anyones hopes up or anything like that but I did want to inform you guys that their are people out there that are looking to improve this platform. I will give you guys more information as it comes down the pipes.

There has been a few companies out there that have tried so far. Vishnu looked at it about 3 yrs ago and gave up. Cobb is said to have something to release shortly. There have been rumors of others that were looking into it but nothing has come forth.
Most are looking for something that will allow some sort of custom tuning for FI applications.

SInce Turbo's are my first love I too want something that will work with an FI kit as well. I've heard a few folks have tried and quit and I mentioned it to them. They are aware. Shiv at Vishnu is very good at ECU tuning I had him look at my EVO at Dyno4mance in ATL a few years back. The fact he gave up is concerning, BUT I know my guys have some help from outside sources. Thats all I will say. Hopefully I can set my car up for some SCCA stuff.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I know the guy I worked with on my EVO has been dead on with me for the last 3 years and he's been tuning other 4G platforms for many years before that. So I will hold out a little hope.

When you say they have strung you along etc what have you and swoope experienced if I may ask?

there is one FI kit that has a flash for the ecu. there are limits however due to fuel ignition issues.
