REV Limiter
#7
because Hitman- as has been shown with the racing beat flash- if the car is tuned right then raising the rev limiter helps make more power AND allows you to shift later staying higher in the power band when shifting.
sidebar: i couldnt open this on my pc because i dont have excel here. so i uploaded it to google spreadsheets and published it so i can share it.
the spread sheet shows that 9000 on the RBflash im still making more power than i was at 8000 stock. Its actually the same as at 8100 stock

Warranted zoom but that is beacuse RB spent some time on there tune and made other adjustments then just making your engine rev higher..... BUT Just raising the Rev Limiter, like the OP asked, does not mean that you will get more power.

what is the max safe rpm you could run the engine it? the guy i got mine from had a catback and a rb intake. He said he did something with the computer but idk what he did! ive taken it to 9.5k before and he says the limmiter is at 10k! so should i shift at 9k-9.2k from now on?

Your shift point will depend on how fast you're going (assuming WOT). At slower speeds, you want to try to land the rev's at 5500 for best Torque. As your speed goes up you need more HP just to keep moving, so you need to shift later and have the rev's land higher. It's an odd bit of aerodynamics and engine dynamics crossing each other. A higher rev limit may be nice for running the engine out a bit more going into or coming out of a corner, and being lazy on your shifts, but it certainly doesn't have any direct performance benefit.
The engine is harmonically sound to somewhere upwards of 12.5K RPM. However, there is a lot of stuff attached to the engine that would complain terribly, and throw a nasty tantrum, if you did that. 10K is pushing the limits of safety.

Sorry for off topic but dammit Zoom, you're making my rb flash V accessport debate more and more difficult. I tend to trust RB more due to a relatively conservative (and lengthy!) history but the Accessport's ability to save/reflash is luring me.
Though the difference is 9.5 hub the powerband in general is really making it hard for me not to head over to racing beat and get the flash.
So, Accesport for $700 with custom maps from MM
or
RB *conservative* flash for $300 + $30 OBDII scanner and hopes of nothing going wrong with my car thus calling for dealer/reflashing...
The shifting/torque debate is one to hold great validity. One reason I love the renny is we get to shift up high and make power as opposed to low revving high torquing engines. Also, regardless of where we make most power, revving to the heavens is always fun...
