Secondary o2 sensor

Just wondering what would be the effects of taking the secondary o2 sensor out and replacing the bung with a wideband.

I already have a check engine light on due to having a midpipe and taking the cat out....

is there any other function that the secondary o2 sensor has on the car's ecu or perhaps the emanage ultimate??

please advise...

thanks guys

I believe the second O2 sensor's only purpose in life is to detect the cat's effectiveness. However, it's possible that the PCM might do something odd if it does not receive any signal at all from this sensor... I'll defer final judgment to people with more expertise and knowledge of the RX8's PCM.

It should be fine to do that if you don't have a cat. Your check engine light is on anyways due to no cat. Go for it, its useless to have that sensor at this point. I've seen a few in this forum who have done that.

The rear O2 sensor is only for the cat

Your wideband sensor for closed loop PCM operation is in the manifold.
