So I recently got a cobb...

I just had a few questions, I did try to look for the answer however I could not find it.

Every time I reflash my car (any map) I would try to start the car afterwards. The car start idles for a brief second then dies.

When I looked up the problem it was saying I had a bad connection between the battery and the car. (But if the car starts shouldn't it run off the alternator? just an off question) So I bought new terminals and made sure it was a tight fit, Cross that off the check list.

So I go to start my car again, and boom idles for a second and dies. And then I remember I had this problem forever ago (replacing coils, plugs and the MAF.) So I cleaned my MAF and reconnected it...

This time when I started my car it idle rough for about 20 seconds and decided to stay on. So I guess what I'm really asking is why would it be doing that? Also Is it possible to get a connection from AccessTUNER race to my ECU through the AP or do I have to get a dongle for it? Thanks, and I did search this stuff, it's just that MM and Teamrx8? we're fighting (Second question) and I didn't really care for reading that.

An RX8 in good working order will run after being re-flashed.
There are several things to try:
Clean your ESS
Check your grounding points (remove, clean and reconnect)
Clean your battery terminals.

How many miles since coils, plugs and wires were changed?

EDIT: Are we talking about just installing the Cobb or have you already tweaked some settings??

a couple things to understand. The rx8 ecu is adaptive, so as your car gets driven the ecu learns the best output to make the best of the tune that is applied to the car.

If you had driven a long time without cleaning maf, without changing plugs and ignition, then when you flash the car all the trims have to be "relearned". With a maf getting faulty readings (which it had progressively learned how to run with on your previous tune) the car will have a tough time going through its adjustments.

It's been about 1000 miles since I've replaced coils, plugs etc. On the way to work this morning while the clutch was pushed in, the car died. I eventually made it to work because as long as I was giving it gas the car stayed "alive." When I got off work, my car started just fine and I predetermined that the ECU taught itself. I made it home just fine, however at two points when pressing the clutch it almost died but it saved it self. Could this be a sign of the alternator or MAF going bad? I'm going to reflash it later and maybe have a higher rpms at idle?

Honestly, yes. My friend and I have been turning evo's and wrx's and since I recently got an rx8 we are learning how to tune that. I would of used MM however I don't have the extra $$ :P.

do a compression check, idle is dominated by the trailing side so if you have an ignition issue it is likely there

Could you post up data logs of when this issue occurs, I realize this may be difficult but it a great help to know what's going on. What are the current mods on the car?

Cheers
