Many, many moons ago. I started getting pretty frusterated, but knowing that I was getting an upgraded version helped keep the frustration in check.
I initally pre-ordered back in November/December and sent payment in mid January....

I orderd and sent credit card info in late Dec. and was told last week I would be in the next shipment but I haven't received tracking info yet. Still, I know that they are pretty busy retooling for the new maps and feel confident that they are working as fast as they can to ship. I am sure it will be worth the wait.

I don't know how you thought your guessing was worthy of a post. Please keep those kind of un-substantiated guesses out of the rumormill from now on. Thank you.

Dear Racer X-8...
It would appear you are getting your units before/at the same time as those ordered in Dec 03. As I understand it, epitrochoid had to get these in and reship to you.
SNIP from epitrochoid's post last week on his new group buy>>>>>
BTW: If anyone has reservations about sending some stranger $530, I'll have a vouch list in about a week when the buyers from the first GB receive their units. Please don't bother Maurice, as he doesn't know me outside of this. I can provide proof of payment to him from the first GB if you need it.
END of SNIP>>>>>
Interesting, you order on 2/11/04, are getting your orders this week, and you get snippy when several here have been waiting (paid in advance by almost two months) pretty patiently? I for one am glad the fellas have delayed shipments until the new bugs were fixed. The problem has been the incremental delays. I was advised several times that it was to ship next week. Sh*t happens, and I can deal with that. I have been a big fan of their efforts and it looks like Maurice has things moving along now.

I didn't say that I was getting mine this week. Now go back and read my pompous post again. It says that CZ said that back on 2-24 as an estimate. That, and $5.95 might get you 5 arby's roast beef sandwiches if you go during the sale.
In other words, that and your last 2 posts here aint worth a sh*t. Worse, you might get somebody to actually believe it. You really ought to delete them both.
If we get ours at the same time (NOT BEFORE) you, do you got a problem with that? Should CZ hold them for like two months or something?
I was here, contributing to the discussion back when the very first dyno results hit this forum. Where were you? My spare $ was going towards something more important at the time. That doesn't mean I wasn't giving what support I could towards the cause. I think CZ himself would agree.
How many valuable posts does this one make, hot shot?
btw, "form now on", WTF?

Speaking of shipping............My stage1 was originally going to be here today, but it appears that it goy hung up in customs in Calgary until this morning. Anyone else got theirs today?
I was hoping to slap it in at least for a quick drive before I have to leave it sit for a week.

The FedEx tracking say mine was on the final delivery truck at 8:03 this morning!!! :D
Sorry to hear yours got held. You're leaving tomorrow? They usually just call you to verify what it is and let it through.

Got mine today, installed tonight taking maybe 20 minutes, test drove in driving rain, no problems so far. Toughet part of the install is the last three connectors and my fat fingers.

Hello SeaRay...
Nope, ran fine. I took it to red line (in the rain) several times, no problems. I see in another thread someone is having trouble. Lets hope it is not related to the stage 1! Weather permitting, I'll run a Gtech in a day or two.

I just installed my Stage 1 after 2 months of mostly patient waiting for it. I had the most trouble getting the last two connectors reconnected -- boy it's tight in there with all those wires! But I finally got it in there, got everything all locked back up, and took my 8 out for a spin.
All I can say is "WOWIE ZOWIE!!!" The difference is unbelievable! Smoother up to about 5500rpm (even my passenger noticed how much smoother it was), then the new programming really kicks in! I wasn't able to get up to redline in 2nd, because it's dark and I was afraid of running into deer, but I could really tell the difference.
I only had a couple of issues -- when I first started up after completing the install, it was a little slow to start. I imagine this is normal. Also, my first run (to the grocery store) my traction control indicator stayed on -- and I had done the steering wheel all the way to the right then to the left. But after I started up again it went out.
My first impression? This thing was DEFINITELY worth the $500, and worth the wait!

Isn't that the procedure, turn on without turning on the engine, crank the steering wheel both directions and then turn OFF and back ON?
EDIT: Page 5-22 of the Owners Manual.
NOTE
If the battery is disconnected, the DSC
will be inoperable. In this case, the DSC
OFF indicator light flashes and the
TCS/DSC indicator light illuminates.
To make the DSC operable, do the
following procedure.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
position.
2. Turn the steering clockwise fully,
then turn it counterclockwise fully.
3. Make sure the DSC OFF indicator
goes off.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF
position, then turn it to the ON
position again.
5. Make sure the TCS/DSC indicator
light goes off.
If the TCS/DSC indicator light and the
DSC OFF indicator light remain
illuminated even after turning the
ignition switch to the ON position,
consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Maybe that's it...I didn't follow the full procedure, just Canzoomer's Stage 1 installation instructions that said to turn the wheel all the way to the right then all the way to the left.

No, I think you did it as prescribed. I have seen other posts from folks that seem to do this stuff for a living suggest things like "hold down on the brake pedal for 30 seconds to reset". Personally In the past few months I have disconnected the battery several times, trying several different methods to reset the computer and seem to have to shut off the car to get rid of my 'squiggly lines most of the time. Twice, I didn't have to do anything, the lights just never came on .The instructions from Canzoomer say to start you car and do the right left thing. Seems that as long as the light go out, we don't have to worry.....

I too had both the DSC and TCS lights on. Turning the wheels lock to lock both ways cleared the DSC light (car running) but TCS light stayed on. And that's ok, because my first run I really enjoyed having the tires break loose when shifting from first to second, then again second to third, then a nice CHIRP even going from third to fourth. :D

I installed the the Stage 1.1 last night after sending back my Stage 1 for the upgrades. Several things are different this time around that I would like to compare with others in the same position.
First - I installed the 1.1 with the battery disconnected as stated in the instructions. The first time around with the Stage 1, I turned on the car all my radio presets were gone and the clock needed reset and so on. This time around with the Stage 1.1, everything was still intact with no flashing DSC or TCS light. So I turned the car off, disconnected the battery and flipped the 1.1 switch back and forth a couple of times ending at what i think is the 'on' position. The '-' position which is toward the back of the car. Turned the car back on after connecting the battery and the TCS light was finally on as well as the blinking DSC light which I know is a part of the reset.
The odd thing is that all other presets are still there and unchanged. Radio, Clock, HVAC etc. Also there were two lights that weren't a part of the first Stage 1. On the Stage 1.1 there are two lights; the light on the left stays lit and the one on the right blinks. Is all this normal??
I also took a few drives to see if things were kosher. The fuel map is obviously different which was what CZ was going for with the update. Though I find it more difficult to tell whether anything has chaged from the stock setup. Meaning, when the Stage 1 was installed the first time, it had a punch at 5500 and 7500 that was quite noticable. Now everything is so smooth I have a hard time feeling the additional power. Can anyone else relate to this? Thank you in advance.
PS - I do not have the 'L' reflash or any other reflash for that matter.

I can't imagine that anything about the CZ unit affected whether your radio presets were still there, or how or why they still were. (But then I can't imagine a lot of things.) How long had you been driving around with the "L" reflash before re-installing the CZ unit (which I assume was upgraded to 1.1 while you got your reflash)?
