Awesome. I've thought of doing something like this for years now yet had no need to really apply. Come in Rx8 with a gay license plate in front of the grill is justification alone to find something around it, kudos to you.

Haha just you, I made it pretty close because I didn't want this rail hanging off my bumper as well as a huge eye sore from the side profile, its still half an inch away from the bumper and is very sturdy so its of no concern.

A breeze, trust me on this, it took me 10 minutes and the manual to find the dip stick when I first bought my car. I'm far from mechanically inclinded, I'm in the learning process haha.

Haha I didn't have a jack or anything either, I just took off my bumper drilled 2 holes, used 2 self taping screws that came with it, and put the wiring up through a small hole and connected it too the battery. , and since I have the AEM CAI I just used doublesided tape to tape the receiver to the base of the stock air box right next to the battery, I will take pictures tonight.

I saw this product a few weeks back and i thought about getting it, but i'm afraid it'll get ripped up if i hit a bump or a sharp uphill.

Absolutely, that's still my biggest fear, I must say though the thing is pretty durable, as long as you mount it properly I can't imagine it coming off from contact with the road..... and scrapes **so far...** have done no damage because the cable system used isn't exposed to the ground.

Also for people that don't like the placement of my setup this kit is universal, I even saw some VW GTI owners cut out a small portion of their centre grill.

Once some people start installing it take some pictures and post them, im curious where else the kit can be used on the 8.

That;s just SICK!! Me wantz

I'm pretty low and with the MS bumper I scrape as it is...so I worry about this.

I think I could mount it upside down on the crash bar, so that way when it's retracted it's out of the way and doesn't block airflow, then if i need to, flick the switch and it opens up. No worry about ripping it off...

To the OP- about roughly how long is the whole piece when it's retracted? I wonder if I have enough room to mount it in my proposed location

When the plate is displayed how does that thing hold up at speed? Does it flap around?
