2004-2008 Bumper Color Mismatch
I have read various threads that our 8's had different shades of white from the factory with respect to the bumper/aero kit. My 8 has never been in an accident (so far) and everything on it body-wise is all original as I have the car's maintenance history. From a distance the titanium grey color looks exactly the same as the rest of the car. However, upon closer inspection and in the right light it seems the front and rear bumpers and the aero kit components are actually slightly darker grey than the body. It actually is infuriating because tricks of the light change how it looks and I am not so good with color as it is.
Has anyone else noticed this on their early 8s? Again as far as I know this is the original factory livery and nothing has been replaced. Will try to add photos to this thread later.
Thanks

I have a 34k color 8. The pearl white with more blue. I have had someone tell me that the front lip aero package piece is a different color but I can't see it and I know it came with the car. I have a piece that is the other white color 24D I think? It's a bit more red but I don't notice unless I'm looking carefully.

Under certain angles my all original sunlight silver bumpers are a shade darker. Probably age, sharp angle change between panels and different materials under the paint.
Pretty sure all light-coloured cars have this.

It's pretty normal and happens on most mass-produced cars. Your bumpers are made of plastic, while your body panels are made of metal. Paint on these surfaces will be slightly different. I just looked at photos of many different cars: my old 08 Accord Coupe, my 09 RX-8, a brand new 18 Mazda 6 GT on a dealer lot, a brand new 17 Accord Sedan Sport, and my current 19 Camaro. All have a slightly different shade of paint on their bumpers(and any plastic parts, like my Camaro's rocker) compared to what's on the metallic body panels. Attached a few photos of a few good examples you can see easily.
The only exception I have seen is my C7 Corvette has a perfect match in paint across the entire car, but that's because Corvette's body panels are a composite material just like its bumpers.

There is nothing you can do, really. There isn't a body shop that can perfectly match bumper paint with body panel paint.

i have the 2005 model year only whitewater pearl color code 25D and various things I bought over the years matched well; plastic or metal, but then mine is out of direct sunlight most of the time. The aero kit stuff and also front bumper, hood, trunk, front fender. The other pearl white from 2006 on is different. My paint is original and the parts all had original paint. So if could be possible for more variation if any of the parts you’re comparing have been resprayed or color matched along the way.
