2004 Mazda Rx-8 Bulb Code List
#78
Dunno if anyone is still reading this thread, but here goes...
I replaced my running lights (the rocket-shaped ones in the front headlights) with super white, 5-LED, "Matrix" bulbs from autolumination. I did this because the stock looks really yellow next to my HIDs.
I realize now that the matrix was the wrong choice (i don't need a wide light spread for this use), but the other problem is that the color is off! The bulbs actually look sorta greenish compared to the xenon headlights. Anyone else run into this? Are some super-white LEDs closer to the xenon color than others? Would an incandescant super white bulb look better?

I got the xenon 194 regular bulbs, not LEDs and put them in the entire interior. This weekend I'm going to try them in the parking lights. I'll let you know how they look.
For some reason my front turn signal bulb will not come loose. I spent at least 30 minutes with my arm up the wheel well, but i can't get the bulb to budge. And suggestions?

I repalced my fog lights with the H11 xenon bulbs from the autolumination web site. They were the priciest bulbs that were supposed to be "white" . They were more for show than illumination, and I was hoping they would be the color of the Xenon headlamps, or a "bluer" look like on BMW's.
The lights put out really awesome white light, but from the front still look yellow. I also have had to replace two of them since I got them. Is there a better quality bulb out there in the H11 style. PIAA, etc..... Or is the only coures of action replacing the whole unit?

I doubt that anybody would read this, but I've used 6 LED 194 in the stealth bulb spot, and the damn things won't stop burning out!! LED's? I thought these things would last for longer than 1 month! Other than the heat being and issue, I'm stumped...

I was wondering though, do you have a stereo or amp hooked up? Maybe it's causing fluctuations in the electrical current or something (?)

the lights closer to the middle at the front, they are fugly compared to the beautiful HIDS, what kind are those I only saw one post on those and all it says is that they were a bitch to replace, the bulb code list did not tell me, I know the high beams are just 9005's but this yellowish crap lights that come on when you turn on parking lights? wish I could change those.... oops, 194 eh? I wonder if sylvania makes a bright set of this... hmmm

I've been looking for the definitive solution to that problem too... Gosh I hate those nite-light globes!!!! Useless *and* ugly!!!!
In the words of Archie Bell and the Drells, its time to "whiten-up" and get something closer to those HIDs!!!

How do the sylvania silver star bulbs compare to the bulbs from autolumination? Checker has the sylvania parking light bulbs 2825 for less than $3 each but I want to make sure they match the HIDs.??

map lights
I found that the easiest way to change out the map lights is to use a spatula instead of a screw driver to pry the clips. This way you don't screw anything up. Even with a screwdriver wrapped in cloth, it can mess up the plastic and cloth with all the digging you have to do to hit the clips.

I dont know if this has been said yet in this thread but the reason people's LED's are burning out in the parking light position is because of the heat created inside the headlight housing. Do not use LED's in the headlight housing, all the heat drastically decreases the life of the LED.

Are you referring to the little 194 (168) bulb next to the high beams?

If you guys go to autolumination's website and click FAQ's, there are alot of folks out there replacing their bulbs left & right. Something about the quality & the heat inside the housings. I went with LED brake lights, and incandecent Xenon Superwhites from MTEC everywhere else. Inside the clear corners, they match the low beams perfectly. I was hoping for a bit more blue, but am glad since blue is illegal in CA. and don't want to practice my "Oh, Really! I didn't know blue was illegal Officer?!" routine everytime I drive past a Krispy Kreme's or Starbucks.
The parking lights (missle loooking lights) heat up quick! Its right near the radiator and it's in a small space. LEDs tend to fail in that type of millieu. So, I put an MTEC in there and its good.
I want to do my interiors too, but am afraid to blind myself in the night time with a crazy bright light. So, I'm thinking a red or blue light that won't dialate my eyes everytime the come on.
I changed my reverse lights to the MTEC superwhites too, but in reality, the stocks are much brighter. I've 30% tint in the rear and wanted a bright reverse light. Do any of you guys have LED reverse lights? Are the brighter? I know LEDs are brighter than incandescent, but only in one direction, no>?

i was just curious as to which bulb most of you perfer for a close to xenon look for the park lights. Of course fom http://autolumination.com.. i was interested in the 6 LED super white or UV but unsure as to how it would look. Also ive heard their bulbs are not very reliable is this true?
