2009 OEM Front Bumper Fit 2006
#2
Yes, anything possible with enough money. But if you are asking if it will just bolt up without modification then no. One guy in Singapore has successfully convertes his Series 1 RX-8 to a full R3 front but he is the only one that I know of. If you want the look of teh 09' then get the Autoexe front bumper.

That bumper has been around for a while. I have contacted Carbon Motions a few times about shipping to the US and they never return my emails.
Anyway to fit the S2 bumper you will need the front fenders, bumper, and headlights. No idea if any wiring needs to be done for the headlights.

I assume S2 = Series 2 which is 2009+ (?) Based on that I am looking to go that route. I am guessing I could get front fenders from a kit for 2009 and use the oem 2009 bumper or also use oem fenders? I am going to look around to find out about the headlights. Thanks for the info!

Not to hijack this thread, but my question corresponds to the OP's somewhat.
I assume the 2009+ fender does not fit the 2004-08. Is this correct? Are there any aftermarket fenders that do not have the OEM vents? I like the look of the 09+ fender.
Thanks

I don't know that anyone has tried a full front end conversion, but I'd imagine that if you swapped the front bumper, headlights and fenders it would work.

A guy in the Singapore section did it. He converted to a R3 front end but used series I headlights. Not cheap.
The only pic I could find but I believe he finished it and is even running R3 wheels.

The car has had the same chassis for going on 8 years now, I'm fairly certain the newer stuff is interchangable, but you'll have to replace everything to make it look right, no way you can do just the bumper or just the fenders etc. You're better off buying a reputable kit for your specific car that matches what you like unless you really want to spend all that cash to look stock.
edit: on another note, I absolutely HATE how the mazda symbol is sunk in on the new front ends, looks awful and I hate that I can't remove it without having to do a ton of work to cover up where it used to be...sucks.

Lots of good info. If cost weren't a factor, I'd probably prefer to install '09 fenders, bumper and headlights, although I'd probably miss the side vents. The advantage there is the quality is going to be great. The autoexe SE-03c is not inexpensive, if only it wasn't fiberglass....

Hood, doors, and trunk are the same between S1 and S2.
S2 fenders, headlights, and quality aftermarket bumper is one way to go. And then you still have to pay to get the pieces painted. If you can not get S2 used parts in decent condition then the cost for the conversion is just not worth it.
