25k miles later, took off the sunroof wind-guard... black marks!

So I figured I'd take off the sunroof wind-guard that came on factory, and now on the roof there is a black outline... the black rubber left what seem to be perminant marks in the paint!

Anyone else have this happen, and know a good fix?

If it came that way from the factory take it back to the dealer and point it out to them.

Is that a valid warranty claim?

25k miles, I took off the wind guard, and it left behind permanent black marks.

Hmmm. If it's rubber that has rubbed off onto the paint, that can likely be removed. If the rubber has worn the paint, at would need to be repaired. If your paint has any hint of fade, the wind guard probably left a fade/shadow. I have a black car with a wind guard and the only time I'll probably ever take it off is to clean under it and then put it back on.

I bet you're SOL. However, try claying the area (a lot of it is rubber & dirt bonded to the paint). When I had to do it on a silver car, it helped a bunch. If that doesn't help enough, try hitting it up with some Meguiar's ScratchX.

why would it be warrantied? it's a stock accessory rubbing against paint, causing paint to come off. paint didn't just come off by itself.
