my feedback:

35w ballast ? 6000K

55w ballast ? 8000K

why? 55w ballasts wash out the color after hours of use, an 8000K will turn more white and come closer to 6000K

6000K gives you the bright white with a slight bit of blue. 8000K will give a more purple color.

My 8k's aren't bright enough....especially without fog-lights..

That, and my headlights are just really fogged up...gonna have to take em' apart to clean the inside.

The lites on the 8 are plenty bright. I tend to hi beam anyone using hi intesity lites.
They don't care why should I, since they think they are the only ones on the road.

Every manufacturer seems to be different, 8k for one will not the same as 8k for another. I had a 8k HID kit(xentec, would not recommend, the light was fine but it died within days) installed and it made everything ahead of me blue, signs, other cars, lines on the road, etc. Honestly it made it harder to see because of the color.

I like 5000K. It is the perfect balance between white and blue imo.
