Accents,Strakes,Stock Spoiler. CHEAP PRICES!

I purchased the accents on www.rotary13b1.com for $70, the Strakes from http://www.rx8strakes.com/ for $79.99, and the spoiler from ebay from seller "thespoilerstore" for $119.00.

All worth it, no el-cheap-o parts.

Accents were great, the only that concerned me was the tape use to apply to the bumper. But so far so good. Fast Shipping.

Strakes were great, fast shipping. No complaints.

Spoiler was amazing, for such a low price. The paint matched, looked great. Easier to install than expected.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I'm about to order a spoiler from the same ebay seller. I was kinda hesitant because nobody else used them.

So, the strakes you went with are the factory painted ? How do you assemble them ?

Nice. Great prices. I just bought some JDM OEM fog lights on ebay for $75. Cool seller. I'll be getting the accents & strakes soon as well.

Make sure the spoiler doesn't fly off the trunk while you're driving in the highway.

I checked out the feedback on the seller ALOT before I purchased it. I, like you was hesitant as well because I was afraid of the paint quality. But as you saw tonight, it is a damn good spoiler (I think) for the price. The paint was more than what I expected compared to spending $300 bucks to Mazda.

Hey no problem. I wished I had this information in one place when I was shopping. The Strakes I went with are factory painted; the paint quality is decent-not amazing. But it does match the color of the car. However I was recommended to compound them or wax them.

Assembly is the easiest thing since sliced bread. You just have to turn the wheel away from the wheel well and pop out a few screws to get behind the black vents. The vents are held in by six clips which you pinch to pop them out. The only tricky part is to follow the diagram given to you by www.rx8strakes.com to insure that they are on straight. They are held on by a screw which inserts through the vent and tightened to the strake on the other side. Afterwards you just pop the vents back on and tighten everything back up.

It took some shopping around, but I think I managed to find the best for the buck. Good luck with the fog lights, if they turn out well let me know the seller ID. Accents & Strakes are a great addition to the car. I was iffy about the strakes but it seems that they are receiving the most complements out of the three.

As to the highway comment. :P Cute thought but I think I managed to get this baby down tight. BTW I also recondmend to pick up some touch up paint to seal off the fresh drill holes to prevent rusting. I picked up a bottle from Mazda today which only ran for $5. Also there is a 3rd hole to the spoiler that is going to blocked on the inside of the trunk by another piece of metal. Your going to have to drill a larger hole to get to that last screw. You will also need another person to help with this.

Has any purchased clear corners from eBay? I am considering those next, however I am starting to think that the stock orange ones look best with the VR.

Just adding on here that my key fob from my 2004 stopped working, so I just wanted to post my DIY experience in case anyone else needs the information. I purchased a 2005 Switch Blade from eBay for about $80 (after shipping) for my 2004 8. I took it to the Mazda dealership to have it cut.

The only problem I ran into was that Mazda wasn't able to match my current key because of the machine on site wasn't able to hold the switchblade and match it to my old key. So they went to the data base and pulled my cut by VIN #. When they cut my switchblade they cut the valet cut. So I returned it to them and they said that for whatever reason the master cut and the valet cut were the same on the database. It started the car, but wouldn't open the trunk or the glove box. I came to a dead end with the dealership. Oi, they cut it for free by the way...

From what I noticed at the time, was that the only difference between the valet and the master cut was the ends. So I went down the street to a hardware store and had the end sanded down to match the master cut. It turned out well and it became a master cut. (Thank god, since another blank is like $35)

FYI, Mazda wanted $80 to program the key. I couldn't help but ask why such a high price and they claim it is because some people loose all of their keys or do not have two master keys to use to program the new one. If you think about the trouble they have to go through without having any keys to use to program a new one, I guess that could explain the $80.

I used the link below to program the new switchblade, worked like a charm. Just to let you know, that you do not need other "fobs" to program. I just used two master cut keys to do mine.

Also thanks for all the info; I couldn't have done this without it.

Just my opinion, but I think VR are one of the worst looking colors with the stock orange side markers. I picked my clear corners up from a fellow board member. Alternatively, pick up the JDM corners with the stealth bulbs for $85 from one of our vendors. You'll probably want stealth bulbs anyway, so probably worth it (I got mine for $50 with no bulbs)

Interesting. I never thought too much of the side markers. I might take your word tho and get myself a set.
