Just wondering if aftermarket air dams/splitters/bottom lips actually affect your downforce or notably increase your handing characteristics?

I was watching Top Gear last night and they were on a track with a BMW Diesel. They lost their front lip air splitter and they said that the car handled much worse without it.. Any real truth to this with your guys' experiences?

Thanks!

typical wings, splitters, will have a noticable affect above 80 mph if done right, and are correct type of wings/spoilers...lowering the car will also affect the downforce characteristics., they key is to make the most downforce with the least amount of drag

Cool, that's good to know. Was just wondering, my car's got coilovers, sways are incoming, and now I'm getting a Seibon front splitter, was just curious if it would make any difference or if it was purely aesthetic.

Thanks!

Mazdaspeed body kit is the only whole body kit that works.

Voltex wings are wind tunnel tested and are supposed to make a dramatic difference at the track.

Lowering the car will keep aero lift from happening. The underside of the car isn't smooth and turbulent air builds up causing the car to lift. Also, if the air can't move under the car, it must go over it causing downforce. That is why an air dam/front lips and lowering is more important than rear wings and lips.
Rear wing look sexy, thats why you see them on front drive Honda's.
