i did a search but was unsatisfied with the results so i thought id ask.....
i was planning on goin with aftermarket muffler but decided id rather keep this car quiet and simple...so as an effort to add a little flare to the rx8 i was interested in adding some nice aftermarket tips to the stock exhaust.

my stock tips are now gold and dingy and after every possible effort with cleaners and pollishers im just not satisfied with the look of them. plus they are too small IMO and id like them to stick out maybe half an inch more.

only company ive looked at was magnaflow and i see a few designs im interested in but im not sure what to get. single wall/double wall...what actually fits...what size/diamiter

any recomendations or pics of aftermarket tips installed. and if you have exact model number that would be a huge help. i am unsure of what size to get (meaning length, depth, diamiter of opening?????)

also i want to kno would i essentially slip these over the stock tips and have them welded on, or do the old tips need to be cut off and add new pipes welded to the tips. i do see the bolt on tips but not really interested in them. i want a perminent fit that looks perfect on the rx8.....any help is greatly appreciated.

 

The tips on the stock muffler need to be cut off, which you can get done at a local muffler shop. Then the aftermarket tips are just welded on.

 

good, that answers that question, now any recomendations on which tip to purchase....the 2 local shops by my house all carry a full line of those 14 inch "flow master" cheverolet caprice style tips but no tips that look like they fit the rx8...any recomendations, and any idea what size/dimmensions i should be looking into.

thanx a million that ws exactly what i was lookin for, now i have a model number i can work off of so ill check the local shops to see if i can get a tip/install deal.

 

ok well i went and got some tips installed, they are the same design like the magnaflows i seen on here but i went for a 3.5 inch tip, and there is no magnaflow emblem on it, im guessin they are just generic. i got them done for 100 installed.

i love them, the car looks so much sportier, the dingy tips are done with, so are the rusty rotors...i did the brakes and pads and painted the calipers, check them out

 

Damn that looks good, I'm thinking of doing the same rather than spending all kinds of $$ on an exhaust and not seeing any power gains.
