Air dam questions

I have searched the forum for answers but just can't find them. So although I don't have an air dam, I didn't realize until recently that I should? Does every Rx8 come with an air dam stock? I have a cracked and mangled undertray and want to replace it so I can put on my new grille and carbon fiber lip on. Currently my under tray is held up by zip ties in the front onto the bumper so I know I am missing something (newer owner).

Does the undertray connect in the front with the air dam (the 4 to 6 screws)?

For reference it is part 20 on this link. http://mazdapartscenter.com/parts/20...gramCallOut=20

Is it still called the front spoiler if it isn't with the appearance lip?

I would appreciate your help!

it is 10 screws that hold the front lip to the undertray.

no not every 8 comes with it, its part of the appearance package. and yes i believe the undertray does connect to it. but if you plan on going with an aftermarket lip, might as will just go with a stock lip, then the aftermarket one should slip right over saving you money

Sorry for not clarifying, the 4 to 6 screws was just for the front side of the undertray where I have the questions.

That's a picture of my car a couple years ago. The next owner removed the lip and it looks empty with out it. The car has carbon fiber fenders and mazdaspeed side skirts and bumper. Also the car has sprint springs so it is very low. I just don't know where I would connect the undertray to it? He removed the vfad so I can see right down to the undertray and just don't see a place to connect the undertray. He drilled holes on the bottom of the bumper and ran zip ties through it. Here is another guy on the forums car with the lip installed.

It is nuke0907's car and I noticed he has the rotary symbol from the air dam and it made me confused. I like the rotary emblem with the lip (evo-r) but I didn't know if he had the air dam or if he somehow placed it in there. Should I just keep the zip ties through the bumper or should I go for something more secure? I would love to save money but just wandering if there is other routes people with aftermarket lips use. Thanks for the fast responses I can take pictures tomorrow if needed!

Update!

So I have an undertray that should get here in the next few days. I almost bought a appearance dam/lip from azpartsexpress for 210 shipped. I put a wtb out for a lip and haven't had any bites.

So I looked at my car again today and looked like the undertray was held up previously by 3m tape onto the bottom of the front bumper. I bought a lot of the clips (maybe fasteners) with the undertray to hook it up and am wondering if i can hook it right up to the bottom of the bumper? Doesn't the screw go through the air dam and bottom of the front bumper anyways? Then I couldn't install the evo-r lip and put bodykit tape in the inside of the lip in the middle to fasten the undertray for that part. I feel like that would be secure enough, but does that sound right? So that would be like 6 screws connect to the bumper and the other 4 screws not used but wedged in between the lip secured by 3m tape.
