Any Pearl white Rx8 owners?
Hi everyone,
I am planning to get a Pearl White Rx8. Any of you own one? Is the paint a problem, I am more concerned with black spots, chips from road tar and debris.
I currently have a black car and it isn't easy to maintain as well. Just want a change....
Also, if you own a white Rx8, is there any kind of discolouration near the exhaust pipe area? Or any other problems you find with the paint?
Thanks
tb

i had my pearl white for about 4-6 months now, and so far i haven't seen any paint problems. the only problem i saw was a minor paint cracking thing in front of my bumper -_-;; i don't even know how i got it, im guessing its a rock chip. but other than that i think its fine. and discoloration? i haven't seen any. i have an aftermarket exhaust.

One last question:
Because the car is white, do you clean all the little crevaces? For example, the door jamb area, under the hood, door hinge areas.... do these places get black because of dirt?
My Dad used to have a white car and I used to remember the little corners all collected dirt.... it was a pain.

what silly questions. Buy the car because you like it, not because of how dirty it looks when you don't wash it like you should. You should detail all parts of the car regardless of what color you buy. With the question about the exhaust, the exhaust shrouds are not painted, and you do not get any problems on the rear bumper from the exhaust.
On the other hand, I do know what you are referring to with discoloration. The white paint on the 350z gets little yellow spots in the paint from bird droppings and tree pollen. You wash the car, the junk comes off, but leaves discolorations in the paint. This is not the case with the RX8 white.

I've had a 2005 Pearl White for about 6 months and I haven't had any problems with the paint, dirt, or road yuck - well, any more so than I have with my truck or any other car I've owned. If it ever needs body work I feel for the poor bastard who has to match the paint.

Haha.... well, I figure that some guys think silver is fastest(so more rock chips). Then of course, there are guys who think white is faster.....
Kidding, just wondered if the white paint was inferior to other colours when it comes to chipping.
Thanks guys and girls!

(black is fastest and gets the most chips)

I am a dedicated white car owner. My '8' is gorgous and I do believe white is a much safer coler than silver or grey. ( seems to disappear into the background of the road).
The paint does seem sort of soft though. I have several small road chips.

we have a BB and White...both are garaged. White is an 05 with 20k miles of freeway abuse. Rock chips, yes....paint softer than black...seems so. But both are holding up well and we just recently added about 8 coats of wax to protect things a bit.

I love my white, i get minor discoulouration by the exhaust if i dont wash it for a while, wash it, and a quick clay (if you leave it too long!) and you are fine...
Trust me, when its washed, and the sun hits it, you still think "WOW this paint is nice" even after a year or so...

Get the car in white. Hands down the best color on any car nevertheless an 8. You wont regret it. The thing looks simply stunning after a wash and no there are no major problems with chips or spots. Its easier to maintain than black.

+1 for pearl white here...
I only had her for 2 months, no issues (knock on wood) I am careful if i drive through dirt or other crap on the road but i think all other colors do that as well.
Dont buy the car because your afraid of chips and dings, buy it cause you like it... All colors will chip and ding the same way... If your afraid, buy a clear bra.
