yup. people dont always look at all the factors.
like for example, if you were to order a kit from Japan parts, you have to consider exchange rate, shipping, and import duties. on top of that, even authentic kits dont always fit 100% so your bound to get some body work done anyways.
with a replica, you just have to be sure which companies out there make decent copies. that's where you have to do your homework. you'll either get one that is decent and can be worked with, or one that is just complete trash and fits like ****.
and at the end of the day, you would also have to consider other psychological things. is this going to be put on a Daily Driven rx8? would you feel as bad if a replica gets damaged versus an authentic that cost 3X as much? sure there's insurance, but some companies will not pay what you paid for an authentic bumper, only what it costs for OEM, unless you added it to the policy.

like for example, if you buy a pair of socks at Macy's, it would be the same as buying a pack of socks at Target. im sure the pair of socks at macys are probably way more expensive, but the ones at target perform the same exact function for less.
we're talking about a body kit [part] here that no one will be able to tell the difference if the body shop does a good job, not to mention does the same exact thing, whether authentic or not. with clothing, your making more of a fashion statement by wearing them, especially if there is a visible logo. here, its just a piece of body work.
now if it were to be a functioning part of the car, then of course authentic, or a reputable aftermarket company is the way to go.
