Anyone Purchase Racing Beats Body kit yet?
#2
Not yet, but I plan to when I get the money. I am mainly buying for the front end. The spoiler, rear fairings and side skirts are a bonus, but I am mostly interested in the front. Every other kit seems to have the same general design, and I just can't justify the expense to get a new body kit with a front that looks so similar to the stock one. I know not many people here are crazy about the RB kit, but I think it looks sharp, and that is all that matters to me.

I wonder if RB is going to be cutting the price of their body kit anytime soon? As far as I know, no one on this site has mentioned getting one, and I haven't seen any photos other than the ones on the RB website. They really have alot of good products. I am thinking of getting their intake and ram air duct, and I am definitely getting the a/c screen.

I just ordered the rear wing and the oil and a/c screens last week, still waiting for them to arrive. Next on the list will be the side skirts and the rear farings - I'm sticking with the stock front end.

Konig, you have to see it in person, it's different than stock front. It sits lower, and has different openings. Middle lip portion hangs out more. Kinda have to get use to looking at it. Rear and sides are cool though.
I bet RB could sell more of them if the material wasn't FRP. You would think for people buying a 25-30k car, they would know that we could spend a little more for added durability. It's not like we bought some rinky dink Civic and can't afford the Urethane.

I traded emails with Jim at RB 4 to 6 months ago on the issue of Urethane and having it come painted. I have hesitated on it because of both these issues. He stated they have had problems from the varying quality of some of the urethane molders and were concerned of the investment in the mold. As for it coming painted, that is not going to happen from them with the FRP parts since they insist to insure the highest quality fit and finish, it must be 'tweaked' on your car eg. sanded before it is painted. Therefore it must be done locally.
I personally, love the whole kit and may still get the whole thing in the future. I have found some shops near me that are interested in looking at the job. But I assume I have to add up to $1000 for their installation which makes the whole kit pricey.

Usually good paint/install is about 600+, so add the kit to that, and you get your total. The problem with buying any kit prepainted is color matching... no one can get it exactly the same, but Mazda's MS kit comes pretty close (obvious reasons for paint match). Urethane has its' drawbacks too... if it's not quality type material, it will tend to sag. Usually during the hot, scorching summer temps, such as the days we've been getting here in So Cal. I saw a replica kit at Fry's Electronic and their sideskirts were warped, and the front bumper was sagging. Obvious fake cheapy urethanes.
