Appearance advice

Just bought my RX-8 -- Silver/black, 6spd, GT. Love the car and bought this particular one due to availability (now), equipment (GT pack) and price (dlr invoice).

I think the car looks great in silver -- color contrasts well with black trim, looks great with the wheels, gets lots of looks and last, silver is one of those colrs that always works -- a year from now I won't be saying, "what was I thinking?". Nevertheless, my ideal choice would have been Red over red/black , yellow over black, etc...

Anyone have a recommendation on how to liven my car up a little? I'm thinking wing and strakes potentially... Not too fond of the front spoiler and side aero pieces -- they look a little too "tacked on" for me...

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Strakes, rotary accents, aluminum sills, door bumpers, foot lights, rotary valve stems. Agree on the side aero pieces as well.

same way I am thinking, I have the accents, but will probily get the stakes and spoiler, and MAYBE a front spoiler, but the car already looks to good to add anything. Everyone already stares enough, no need to change it. I also agree about the side pieces.

Add-ons

Thanks for the input from everyone. However, as I enter my fourth week of ownership, the car looks better and better to me without add-ons. The color, silver, which I wasn't too sure about has grown on me as well -- it really shows off the athletic body and proportions of the car and has that "hunkered down to the road look."

Maybe I'll add strakes and a spoiler if I get bored in the 2nd or 3rd year.

By that time, maybe the cost on the strakes and exhaust finishers will come down to lower than plutonium!

On the other hand, mine are on order already... :-)

Agreed, the strakes are pretty costly for what they are -- but they do look cool...

Decals & Exterior Enhancments

i am not familiar with the process of applying decals to a car... when you see all these pimped out cars that go to shows are thier designs painted on or are they usually sticker decals?

i am looking to get something done to my 8 sometime after i get it but i am not sure i want a decal that will eventually start peeling and look like crap because part of the car has faded from the sun... i know i will have my car covered even in the summer while it is in the driveway as to deter fading.

i have had my teamvoodoo decals on my miata for a good 4 years...and on my 7 for 3. no peeling or extreme color fade on them, since they are garaged or covered. as for the 8, it has only been 2 months with the decals on. still garaged though.

as for the application of decals...it is best to apply them with soapy water and squeegee the bubbles out. any left over bubbles will go when the rest of the water evaporates within a few days.

look here for better instructions from Voodoo Bob...scroll down for the PDF file link.
