APR GTC-200 wing
hi, i am trying to install APR GTC-200, but it doesn't fit. it seems that the air spoiler base is far apart from the base. they responded to me that there is a way how to install it. can anybody let me know how to install teh wing if anybody has an experience toward it?
thank you
steven

Halimsteven, do you have picture of the spoiler at eye level? Take the picture but align the camera with the side of the spoiler, you know sort of crouch down. I think yours looks good, I just want to see the actual height to roof sizing. Do you know what I mean???

I had an attempt at fitting on of these earlier. didn't go to well.
i know they use the same holes as the hoop spoiler which my 8 doesn't have and i'm pretty sure i have the wrong base plate buy looking at the car above.
Can anyone confirm this?
Could someone give me the dimensions of the hoop spoiler?
Photos.

Did you get the wing for the RX-8? With the mounting brackets screwed into the wing, the base of the bracket should run more parallel to the edge of the trunk. To get the wing to fit without stressing it, one must drill 4 new holes in the trunk lid. With some care, the APR bases will cover the two Mazda bananna wing holes, but not the bigger single hole for the clip. (Removing that clip is a PIA, best done by sawing it off with a hacksaw blade as shown in the pic below).

My paint was chewed up by the Mazda wing. I made a cutout from vinyl tape to match the base. The bannana hides the vinyl, the APR exposes it (but the messed paint and clip hole is temporarily covered). (The holes shown in the second pic are for the bannana.)

Here are some more assembly pics. I chose APR stud hole locations (but used screws, cause they weren't long enough) to get them far apart for stability, yet also fit within the outline of the bannana mounting base. The base itself does not exactly match the trunk contour, so I put some sticky foam underneath to keep water out. I also taped up the unused base holes. Since the trunk is ribbed on the inside where the new holes go, the surface is not flat. The pics show the type of screws used.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and photos buddy.
It's an rx8 specific spoiler. It has rx8/celica on the spoiler mounts and says rx8 on the base plates. That's my concern to. The threads in the spoiler look like there are to far in hence why there is over an inch on either side of the mounting plates before the boots finishes. My mate has some templates for the hoop spoiler so ill try that out.
Could you measure the distance between the the brackets for me so I can see if mine is the same. I've looked on the apr website and it just says oem.

It's rather a PIA to install. It doesn't help that the wing doesn't balance on the deck without being screwed down. Many iterations with painter's tape were required to get the wing centered fore/aft, left/right and also have a location where the holes could be drilled in such a way that the screws could be tightened, plus have the bases cover the OEM screw holes.
Worth the effort though: https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/b%4...8/#post4389296
