Blue Cold Cathodes behind Side Vents?
I'm sure somebody has already done this if it is possible. I was contemplating the idea of installing blue cold cathode lights inside my fenders behind the side vents. Since the side vents actually have holes in them, the the light would shine through at night. This would look pretty cools since my 06 RX-8 is Winning Blue Metallic. Glowing blue coming from the side vents! This would be really easy to wire up. Anybody done this and have any pics? What do you guys think? And I'm sure laws vary from state to state, but I could probably leave these on while driving at night. A friend of mine installed these lights under the gas tank and rear fender of his Suzuki Marauder. The blue glows off the chrome engine parts at night and it looks pretty cool.

the neon laws vary state to state... in alabama you can have the lights on your car all you want, they just can't be on when the car is moving... went into subways w/ a friend that had lights under his car, there was a trooper sitting next to his car when we walked out informing us that if we attempted to move the car w/ the lights on he'd write us a ticket... but i'll double check my '06 but i'm pretty sure it does have holes in the side vents

I say go for it, check with an officer in your area and they will tell you what it legal or not.
In illinois any lights other than standard driving lights(headlights, fogs, brakes, etc) are illegal while moving on public roads. Depending on the cop some may pull you over some may not, if it is red or blue your chances are greatly increased and if they are flashing you are pretty much screwed. If you have them on in parking lots then normally it is fine unless you get a power hungry officer that is looking to give someone a ticket.
Most of this is from experience / friends with experience / officers I have talked to. I like neons when they are done tastefully and to me where you want to put them sounds awesome, and something I may try when I get my new vents.
