Bra or no bra?

Just got a black RX-8, and am trying to decide. Is the bra more of a hassle than it's worth?

The full nose mask is definitely out, even though it shouldn't stick out as much on my black ride. But what are the alternatives to it?

clear bra is useful. I have a fiberglass front bumper and have avoided all but one chip (big rock). clear bra is no hassle at all.

I like my gal bra-less, alternative is get bodykits which eventually most owners would get anyway. The paint is just too fragile on our car.

Bra is good for road trips for me, that's about it. Degrades the look of the 8 IMHO. But I use it for my every so often 300+ road trip (one way) on the weekends. Just MAKE sure you wash/wax before you put it on.

Bra great for long trips, around town driving pointless. It also takes away the look of the car.

Even my hood and side mirrors somehow end up getting hit by rocks and debris from highway driving. A bra would help the front bumper but what about the other exposed parts? My car needs bra and panties and a chastity belt.

I drive in a bad area as far as debris and nothing hits my mirrors. My hood is like I magnet though, I hate that freakin sound!

NO BRA! The front is tight and even, no need to add any extra support, or cover up those beautiful curves.

Everything is better without a bra...

There is another thread about this somewhere, too.....you might want to check it out.

On another note, I love the stock front end...I don't like ANY of the body kits...I wouldn't do anything to cover up that front end...

I think for girls that are in their late teens and early 20s, no bra is fine.. but older girls with large breasts should definetely keep the bra on.

This is also why i don't date girls over the age of 21

clear bra is the best alternative, or cruise around with painters tape. the fabric bra's don't sit as flush on the car as vinyl (which is essentially what a clear bra is) does and this will cause issues down the road, even if you keep removing and reinstalling and protecting the surface underneath it before you know it you're bra will be thrashed. go clear, best alternative out there from what I can tell.

Marv, I was born and raised in NC. I love it out there, going back home to visit in two months.

So you've got the full bra and use it just for long trips? Have you had any problems with it flapping up any kind of way?

No doubt, I'm not trying to cover up the front end. I like the stock look, it's clean and smooth, the car looks fast standing still.

THe only issue I have with the bra is my own fault really and that is that I bought the one for use without the aero package and lo and behold I have the aero package. So it's actually EXTREMELY tight and doesn't cover that very bottom lip. And there is one button I can't get to reach, but it's the bottom left one and I was able to ziptie it in place so no flapping or any damage or anything like that.
Geuss that's what I get for trying to be cheap and buying used. The seller was upfront with me, I just didn't think I had the aero package. But i'm happy with the results. Before I take it off after the trip I spray some armor all on it and wipe off the bugs to keep it looking good.

I realize that bras will protect your front end from all the crap that is on the road these days, but they just seem to remind me of old, junky mid 80's IROC Camaros!

to each their own i guess... i used to feel the same way about nose masks until i got my first rock chips while cruising the canyons here in so cal... (once it happens ur car is never the same & it totally pisses u off.) to stop the bleeding, i just picked one up and will be using it just for when i do canyon driving, as i don't have too many issues for other driving.

I personally do not like the look of it but just bought one for the ride from Ohio to NYC. I really want to avoid any chips in the paint from rocks and trucks etc...

Mine very quickly stretched around the headlight enough to balloon up at high speeds. I just snug it down well with a velcro strap inside the engine compartment. Everything else has stayed taut and smooth through about 50,000 miles of 70-90 mph Interstate cruising.

On a TiGray, the black bra looks pretty good, and it's saved her from countless paint chips.

The bra is a great investment. It's great being immune to all the crap on the interstate and the love bugs here in La. Does anybody know about these bugs?

Yeah we have love bugs in Florida, they should rename them Mother Fracking Pain In the *** Bugs becuase that's what they are. The truckers spray PAM on the front of their rigs so they can just wipe them off. But Yes we have them here in the summer months and they are a real pain going up the turnpike....If i have to drive my 8 up through those I'm going to want a freaking Jumpsuit for the car not just a bra....

Dunno about love bugs, but when I was in SC they had hu-friggin-mongous dragonflies. I encountered one at night on my motorcycle. My shirt was halfway open and I caught one right in the chest. It was a nice big juicy one too - oh MAN that was gross!

Besides that it was like getting hit in the chest with a baseball.
