Build wise EU vs US RX-8 HP?

Hey guys. First off, I would like to thank everyone here for helping me to decide to buy a RX-8 HP Had it for half a year now, and I just love it.

But as the title says, I need some help. Had my RX-8 HP on service at my local Mazda garage a week ago, I told them I was thinking about upgrading my car with a rear wing spoiler and sport exhaust from Mazdaspeed. They didn't like the idea too much (go figure, since they won't earn anything on the deal).
But they said something that made me think twize, and I've been trying to find out what's the difference build wise (if any) on the US and EU version of the RX-8 HP.

Mark at Tustin Mazda been very helpful, but even he wasn't sure about this, so anyone tried to upgrade their EU version RX-8 with US gear without any issues? I'm most worried about the sport exhaust from Mazdaspeed, as I got a catalyst (sp?) after the engine block, and I'm not sure if it's on the US version? If I remove this, I would have the DMV so far up a place the sun never shines, so they would check my car on a daily basis

So if anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it bigtime

Cheers,

-Bjornar

High Power. EU cars get a low power and high power version. Low Power = 4 port engine in the 04 + 05 autos here in the US.

Ait, thanks alot :o)

As Asmoran said, here in the EU the RX-8 comes with two different engines, one with 192 hp and one with 231 hp. The 192 got 5 gears, while the HP got 6. The HP also got some more extra gear as standard.

One other difference between USA and EU versions is the front bumper steel reinforcing. The EU version is smaller in height. This came to light when my USA bought RB Revi Ram intake mounting brackets did not fit. I had to make 2 replacements brackets. As far as I can see the exhaust systems are the same.
