I have both the carbon hood and trunk...
When I hold up the hood it felt the same but the trunk makes a bigger difference... Not sure how much weight you are saving cuz I never weighted them.
I think for a race purpose vehicle, most of them go with lighter wheels and breaks and take off all the unnecessary inserts on the car to save weight ie trim off the inner door metals and all... since it is written on SCCA rules for ST classes that all factory panels need to be in place except for the hood.
I have yet to see any after-market panels fit like factory, just because they are not made from the factory... for looks wise, they probably look really good when it's on a car though!!
