Carbon Fiber Trunk

IMO the hood is definetly not worth it, unless you want the CF look....it doesnt save enough weight on our car to matter. Bumpers are also pointless, they dont save that much weight to matter, plus that weight is already low to the ground AND you want something that will dent and usualy 'pop' out in a minor ding, unlike CF that will crack/break (like fiber glass). As far as trunk lid, the car is already 50/50 and you dont want to remove to much weight off your drive wheels.
IMO its a waste, unless you want that CF look...then by all means go for it.
Also the GRADE AA or SHOW CF parts are covered with so much eurethane and stuff to seal them and make them beautyful and glossy it starts to go against the weight savings.
If you were really interested in going all CF, go with 'dry' impregnated carbon with the honey comb, that would save you some weight.
I saw a RSX at a car show once, it had an entire CF body, bumpers, doors, hood, hatch, roof, fenders...everything. It saved about 22lbs off the car, for a cost of around 11K from what the guy told me. If you use the 10lbs=1 hp....he could have negated the weight by getting an intake and adding 5hp.

thanks team for the info. I was always wondering who made that trunk. Very very nice. Do you know the cost of it? My cf hood is about 4-5 punds lighter than the stock hood.
Again, I am only doing this for looks, I can care less about 2-3 more pounds but only doing it for looks. In a about a few more months you will see why Im going with a CF trunk.

BUMP....look friends, I used the Search Button...
Anyway, so did anyone ever find out what our trunk is made out of? If I remember right the hood weighs only 15 pounds (pretty dang light) but what does the trunk weigh?
Just asking...
