Carbon Mirror Covers
Some of you have modyfied the RX8 with carbon eyelids, carbon b-pillar, carbon engine covers.
What do you think about a little bit more carbon style to the mirrors?

that's a photoshopped picture. i don't think they'd be as good at photoshopping carbon covers onto your mirrors (ie, if they're selling them, i think they'd have them).
i'm not sure i understand what "carbon look" is, and how that would be different in this application from "real carbon fibre".
for christ's sakes, they're not autoclaving this stuff, it's not the highest grade weave, and i'm quite sure they're not using the finest space-age epoxies either. who cares?? if you want to go for the (completely played out) carbon fibre look, what does it matter if it's "real" carbon fibre or "carbon look" (and i don't even know what that would be)??
btw: yes i do actually think that in this case having a stylish surface, in this instance CF, instead of the textured flat plastic parts would be cool, but covering up paint with carbon fibre??? i still think that just clear coating carbon fibre is stupid (as this shows that you're not using the stuff for its benefits as much as its cool-factor... like wearing sunglasses at night, in my opinion).

I think it could be a little bit of PS magic. But my question (as with all similar CF products) is ,simply, why? CF is awesome stuff for what it's designed for - i.e. making light weight super-strong procucts that could not be made better from another material. What's this fascination with the CF "look", be it real or fake? If it doesn't make the car lighter/go faster, it has no place on my car!

Some people just like the way carbon fiber looks on their cars. Not everything is purchased just for its practicality. We all wear clothes because it keeps us warm and covered up, but you might wear a shirt that I would never dream of putting on. Everyone is different. We all buy cars for different reasons and uses. Why do you think stores like Home Depot and Lowe's are so popular? People want to make their investments look the way "THEY" like it.
