I'm about to take a whack at making a center look good. I'll post pix when I'm done. will be awhile so i might be poking a dead thread with a stick of pictures. it'll be for my turbo setup to get rid of bends and just go straight out
any luck with it yet? i'm about to start to make rotor shape hole with straight exhaust sticking through it with diffusers on each side. i'm also throwing out the bottom part of the bumper I also thought of taking exhaust pipe on either side of the license plate, but it would just look way wrong. post some pictures if you're close, or not. i think we're probably thinking the similar design.
Yeah I'm not really a fan for a few reasons:
1) empty shrouds
2) no car has ever pulled off a single center exhaust
3) melting the **** out of your bumper
I figured I would post these. I had full 4" from turbo back splitting into two 4" pipes in the rear. I thought it was a bit too loud once I swapped engines to a 13B-RE and always had interest in a center exit exhaust so I worked this up. It sounds great and its quieter and I can't feel any noticeable power loss from the original 4" split.
As for the bumper, the entire rear section is getting changed, this photo was minutes after finishing the exhaust and I had done nothing to make it cohesive with the rest of the car. I have every intention of changing it to match.
Either way I appreciate the input from everyone
I will probably end up modifying the rear to something similar to either of these two pictures:
I may have something for you guys soon
depending on how the resonator fits I'll either do this or have the exhaust coming from in front of the rear wheel
straight pipe was WAY too loud btw
I’ve seen an actuated valve added to the OE muffler center point to dump exhaust out directly that way on demand too. It’s really more of a noise generator than actual performance enhancer.
well I have more clearance at the shrouds and those have melted spots on them
So far the header wrap and thermal tape is holding very strong. My previous setup was bare metal on the plastic and it shockingly didn't deform anything (ran that setup for ~5 years now).

Funny enough, after uninstalling my rear sway bar for autox - I found my aged tanabe coil overs are more streetable without the bar. But I actively avoid as many man/pot holes as humanly possible, so I'm sure that adds up.
in the first picture above you can see the aftermarket muffler going straight to it. Looks like a Spintech or Flowmaster chamber/deflector type without packing.
or rather just click on his blog link, it’s a spintech
