CF covers for the stock side mirrors ?
If anybody knows a place that sells CF replacement covers for the side mirrors, please let me know. I prefer not to replace the mirrors, for now at least, only the painted covers.
The painted standard ones are getting chipped away by rocks so soon it will be time for those to go :o)
Thanks in advance.

Actually, I think I'd like the CF to go over the textured black plastic myself....its more in line with the CF trim available for the other exterior parts of the car...the top part could remain body colored.
I've seen some overlay jobs that looked fantastic, but generally speaking they weren't the double sided tape variety. A guy on the RX-7 forum used to do overlays where he'd take the actual part and lay CF over it...it wasn't just stuck on, although I'm not sure exactly how he did it. Anyway, it looked very good, and he was able to do parts that normally would be extrememly difficult to do due to the back side mounting tabs, holes, etc.

Well sure, who doesn't? But unless you want an entire CF mirror you can't separate the two pieces, regardless of which half you want in CF.
Here's my take on overlays vs. the "real thing." This is being done for looks...anyone who thinks they're getting some sort of weight advantage is smoking something. So, if you can get overlays that LOOK just as good as the so-called real thing, and if they hold up just as well...then who cares?
That said, most overlays do neither, so its a big if. However, as I've mentioned before, there was a guy on the RX-7 forum who "permanently" overlaid parts...no double-sided tape, and no incomplete coverage at the edges...and it looked great.

I have a pair of these covers in Carbonfiber. I bought them from this guy on ebay along time back and since then he has not made anymore. They just stick to the mirror using this thin sticky tape. they look cool I just never put them on. I'll try to get some pics as soon as i can.
